Traditional knowledge needs to be the basis for northern solutions.

We seek direction from our boards, elders, and community identied keepers in buildingresearch partnerships and the network.

Research needs to be drivenby community priorities.

AHRN assists with priority setting exercises for health research, development of communitymechanisms to consult and lead projects aswell as promotes training opportunities.

There is a lot of money available for research, but none of it can be accessed by communities - how do we change this process? We can assist communities withproposal writing and manageresearch funds at their request.

Health research must be done holistically to include spiritual, emotional, mental and physical well-being. The network brings together a broadbase of partners as identied by needsin the community.

The vision of the network is to have community driven, northern led, health and wellness research centres thatfacilitate the identication of health research priorities in

the north and promote northern evidence.

The centres facilitate and participate in health researchwithin a model in which traditional knowledge andwestern sciences are both recognized when promotingknowledge that will create healthy environments andimprove the health of persons in the north.
