WHO CAN APPLY FOR REGISTRATION AS
AN ARCHITECT?
Any resident Indian who has completed his
undergraduate education in the field of
Architecture from an institute, duly recognised
by the Council of Architecture is qualified to
apply for registration as ‘ARCHITECT’.

HOW DOES ONE ACQUIRE SUCH
QUALIFICATION?
Bachelor’s Degree course in Architecture
(B. Arch.) is a Five year Full-time course,
available in more than 400 institutes
throughout India and many other recognised
institutes around the world.
ARCHITECTURE
WHO CAN SEEK ADMISSION TO B. ARCH.
COURSE?There are two criteria:
•You must have passed XII or Equivalent examination
with mathematics as one of the subjects and have
score more than 50% marks in aggregate
AND
•You must pass recognised Aptitude test i.e., National
Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA)

Here is a short profile of the person we are
looking for, as a raw material for the discipline
of Architecture.
• Intelligent: Intellectually alive to understand
the community’s problems, to meet
community leaders as an intellectual equal
and to contribute to the solutions.

• Sensitive: Sensitively responsive to people,
place and situation, with a developed
knowledge of the way people use and
respond to environment checking his
intuition against all the hard data he can lay
his hands on.
• Imaginative: Capable of thinking creatively,
flexibly, broadly and not getting hung up on
preconceptions of passing fashion.

• Practical: Willing to dirty his hands and not
remain aloof since many problems demand
down to earth positive action.
• Organized: Able to get and keep matters
under control to manage at all levels.
• Idealistic: Still able to dream to hold to
