At first, I wasn’t quite surewhere I wanted to go with design.The joint honours course gave mean insight into all its potentialareas and because of that I nowhave my next step.

About the courseYou'll develop an awareness of traditionaland contemporary architectural design.
During your first year you'll also developbasic design skills and techniques. You'llcomplete a variety of projects using CAD,hand drawn sketching and modelling.
In the final stage, you'll carry out anindividual study of design and research toexplore your potential as a creativedesigner.
How you’ll learnThe course is practical and largely studio-based. You'll learn about traditionaldesign alongside the application of thelatest digital technology, including CAD(Computer Aided Design).
You'll be assessed in a variety of ways tohelp you develop your presentation andcommunication skills, which are essentialfor professional practice.
Your careerThere's a real design and technicalemphasis to this course, which will helpyou get into a professional career inarchitectural design. You'll develop digitalskills, which are highly appropriate to thecontemporary architectural workplace.
If you combine this subject with PropertyDevelopment you could start your ownbusiness or work in the practical side ofproperty planning and designing.
You can also study further to achievemembership of the Chartered Institute ofArchitectural Technologists.
Additional informationA joint honours degree is the perfectchoice for you if you want to study morethan one subject. You can combine thiscourse with one or two other jointhonours courses that are offered at ourDerby Campus to create your own jointhonours degree. Popular combinationsinclude Business Management, PropertyDevelopment and Marketing.

Entry requirements: Academic – 220-300 UCAS tariff points, ofwhich at least 200-240 must be from yourInternational Baccalaureate or equivalentqualification.

Duration: 3 years full time
Course fees: It depends what subject you combineArchitectural Design with. If you combineit with a classroom-based subject, it willcost £9,945 per year*. If you combine itwith a resource-intensive subject or aspecialist subject it will cost £10,225 peryear*. September 2013 and August 2014. We recommend you
