FORMAT Instructor-led with architecture design sessions

LEVEL 300

DELIVERY Available for onsite delivery

COURSE DESCRIPTION The SAP on Azure workshop is designed to prepare the architect

to design SAP solutions on Microsoft Azure.

This workshop is focused on designing solutions using

Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) and other technologies to

enable SAP on Azure solutions.

Individual case studies will focus on specific real-world problems

that represent common IaaS and Hybrid scenarios and practices.

Students will also experience several hands-on labs to introduce

them to some of the key services available.

COURSE OBJECTIVES • Have educated discussions on the capabilities of Azure

regarding infrastructure as a service and hybrid

technologies

• Understand best practices for enabling and applying

governance to one or more Azure subscriptions with or

without an enterprise agreement

• Select the appropriate services and features within

Microsoft Azure to build a proposal or implement a proof

of concept

• Understand the correct approach to migrate

infrastructure from on-premises to Azure

• Decide on the correct tools and services to implement

automation and configuration management within an

Azure environment

• Design a cloud based management, automation, and

monitoring solution for servers on-premises or in the

cloud

MODULES

STUDENT

PREREQUISITES

• Suggested to have core understanding of cloud

technologies

• Background in virtualization, identity and enterprise

technologies

• Understanding of SAP Hana and NetWeaver

MODULE 1:

Introduction to SAP on

Azure

In this module, students will be given an overview of the what and

why of running SAP workloads in Microsoft Azure.

MODULE 2:

Architecting Azure

Infrastructure as a

Service

In this module, students will learn how to design solutions using

Azure Infrastructure as a Service Components. This module will

focus on core capabilities, use cases, and general best practices.

MODULE 3:

Architecting Azure

Hybrid Identity

In this module, the student will learn the core capabilities and use

cases of Azure Active Directory (AD). This module will emphasize

strategies and techniques for integrating on-premises Active

Directory with an Azure AD environment.

MODULE 4:

Architecting Azure

Governance

In this module, the student will learn how to use features and

capabilities within Azure to architect solutions to apply

governance at scale with Microsoft Azure. This will include

architecting the Azure EA portal for delegated access and charge

back and discuss features like implementing role based access

control (RBAC), and resource manager policies to enable

enterprise control of an Azure deployment.

MODULE 5:

Architecting Azure

Connectivity

In this module, the student will learn about the capabilities of the

Azure networking stack for connecting networks. This module will

focus on capabilities and use cases so the student will be able to

make an educated decision on connectivity requirements.

Infrastructure as a

Service Lab

Hands-On Lab: Getting Started with Azure IaaS

In this lab, the students learn how to implement core capabilities

of Microsoft Azure IaaS by using the Azure Management Portal to

create and manage an infrastructure deployment.

MODULE 6:

Architecting SAP

NetWeaver on Azure

In this module, the student will learn about designing Azure

infrastructure necessary to support distributed SAP NetWeaver

deployments in combination with SQL Server and Oracle database

tier. The module will focus on the core infrastructure components,

including networking, storage, and authentication. It will present

infrastructure-related sizing, pricing, high availability, and disaster

recovery considerations.

MODULE 7: Building

SAP NetWeaver on

Azure

In this module, the student will learn how to implement a highly

available SAP NetWeaver deployment on Azure with SQL Server as

the database tier. The module will include a step-by-step process

of deploying all necessary Azure infrastructure components.

MODULE 8:

Architecting DevOps

Solutions in Azure

In this module, the student will learn how DevOps methodologies

can be implemented in Microsoft Azure. This module will focus on

several key technologies such as configuration management with

Azure Automation DSC, Chef, and Puppet, to Azure Resource

Manager templates and command line tools.

Case Study

Case Study: Architecting an SAP NetWeaver Solution on Azure

In this architecture session, students will work as a team and learn

how to design an appropriate solution for an enterprise scenario

to enable efficient configuration management and deployment.

MODULE 9: SAP Silent

Install

In this module, students will learn how to perform an unattended

installation of SAP infrastructure components on Azure. The

module will focus on leveraging the capabilities of SAPInst, as well

as customizing and monitoring the installation process.

MODULE 10:

Architecting a Hybrid

Management Solution

In this module, the student will learn how to design a solution that

enables automated management and monitoring of hybrid

infrastructure workloads. This solution will show students how to

identify events that occur either on-premises or in the cloud and

enable automation to resolve them.

MODULE 11:

SAP HANA

Architecture Design

In this module, the student will learn about designing Azure

infrastructure necessary to support SAP HANA deployments. The

module will cover both production and dev/test/DR scenarios. It

will present infrastructure-related sizing, pricing, high availability,

and disaster recovery considerations. It will also provide an

overview of the integration of PowerBI with SAP HANA.

Case Study

SAP BW on HANA

Case Study: Architecting an SAP HANA Solution on Azure

In this architecture session, students will work as a team and learn

how to design a SAP HANA-based solution in an enterprise

scenario that satisfies custom performance, security, cost, high

availability, and disaster recovery requirements.

MODULE 12: Building

SAP HANA on Azure

In this module, the student will learn how to deploy SAP HANA on

SUSE Linux on Azure. The module will include a step-by-step

process of configuring an Azure VM and installing SAP HANA.
