Women Composers Competition The Arcadian Singers of Oxford are delighted to launch a composition competition for young women composers. The winning piece will be premiered and recorded on 23rd May 2015, in Oxford, as part of a fundraising concert for the UK charity Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and will feature alongside some beautiful and rarely performed choral repertoire from other female composers. The judging panel will include composer Cecilia McDowall, and the Arcadian Singers management team. Before entering, please note the following terms and conditions: All compositions must be submitted by 5pm on Friday 24 th April. To submit a piece, the following must be emailed to [email protected] Full name, date of birth, email, contact telephone number PDF or Sibelius 6 file of the score, on which no personal details must be present Max. 100 word write up about the piece Only one piece per entrant may be submitted. Entrants must be between 18 and 25 years old as of 24 th April 2015. Entrants are not restricted to students or UK residents, but must be available for the premiere in Oxford on 23 rd May 2015. It must be a new composition. The chosen text may be sacred or secular, and appropriate for the fundraising concert outlined above. The piece must be: No longer than 5 minutes long Written for unaccompanied SATB (with maximum divisi SSAATTBB) Of suitable difficulty for a good amateur choir with little rehearsal time The judges’ decision is final, and the panel reserves the right to withhold or remove the award if any of these conditions are thought to have been breached.
