DISCO Wednesday 5 December 2018

K-2 only 6:00pm – 7:00pm3-6 only 7:15pm – 8:30pm Please note that students/siblings are not allowed on site outside of their allocated disco times as we are unable

to provide supervision for these students. Disco entry cost: $5 per child or $10 per family (pay on arrival)

SPECIAL INFORMATION REGARDING DROP OFF/PICK UP - to minimise traffic issues we ask parents to consider the safety of all when dropping off and collecting children.

The following parking strategies have been put in place:

1. DROPPING OFF - Staff and Primary School car parks will be closed• Children can be dropped off at the Primary School gate as in the mornings using the stop and drop zone. Please drive to the end of the drop off zone, rather than stopping right at the gate. A staff member will direct children to the hall. Please do not block the drop off zones or turn-around by parking your vehicle in these are-as.

2. 2. PICKING UP - As all children need to be collected by a responsible adult at the end of each disco we could have some parking issues. To avoid congestion we ask that families consider carpooling or make arrangements for one parent to collect a number of children. If your child is being collected by another adult you will need to have a written note presented to teachers. Parents with children attending both discos are advised to drop their primary children when they collect their infants children. A staff member will supervise years 3 to 6 children in the COLA area prior to the primary disco. Once inside the hall no child will be allowed to leave without a responsible adult. We ask all adults to please wait outside the hall in the COLA area for the children to be dis-missed. These procedures have been put in place to maximise the safety of all children.

Thank you for your co-operation.

Band News Christmas Winds Concert Congratulations to Senior Band who played brilliantly at the Conservatorium last Friday night. Everyone is so proud of you and the hard work and commitment you have put in to look and sound so professional. A huge thanks to Mrs Scott and all her hard work with all three bands. It was a real privilege and honour to play at the Conservatorium for the third year in a row – a wonderful achievement.

Band Committee Our hard working band committee will say goodbye to longstanding members including Dea Freebody and Kim Surman. Thanks for all your hard work and interest over the years. With this in mind, we welcome any new carer parents who would like to help out next year. We have meetings on Wednesday mornings (weeks 2 and 7 ) each term. You do not have to attend each meeting, just keep in touch as we near any events which may need helpers. Band Camp is returning next year – Term 1. A note has been given out outlining details and payment. Please return permission note and deposit by end of term. Extra notes available in the band room and on our website. We will need lots of helpers to assist with the catering over the 2 days. Please keep this in mind and we will give more details early next year. Important information about hired instruments

Over the holidays, Mrs Scott and myself have to do an audit on all school instruments. This will allow us to check for maintenance purposes and repair if necessary. We realise this may leave some children without an instrument to practise on through the holidays. If you would like to keep your instrument over the holidays please leave a $40 refundable (or credited to next year’s fees) deposit. Please speak to Mrs Scott or Mrs Thurston if you have any concerns.

Band shirts are available from the uniform shop for $35. Clarinet and saxophone reeds are available from the office for $3.50ea

Responsible Pet Education Program Students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 are participating in the Responsible Pet Education Program on Monday 10th December. The program is aimed at young students to teach them the life skills of being safe around dogs and how to say 'hello' to dogs when they are with their owners. A trained pet educator will be attending our school and the information sessions will be conducted in the hall - allowing a two metre space between the dog and the children. If for any reasons, your child will require special considerations for attending this program, please discuss with your child's classroom teacher prior to this event.
