Several more focus groups will take place. Students in Grade 3 & 5 will be undertaking NAPLAN commencing the week of eighth of May. It is a parents choice to withdraw their child from this tesng program. Some students are exempt but we have had parents who have preferred their child not to parcipate. Some students do become anxious. If you would like your child withdrawn please contact Gaye or myself. Winter is coming and has hit us this week! Many of our children clearly do not feel the cold. Teachers have their Puffer coats and gloves and students have short sleeves. Please make sure that your child has their jumper with them and coats if possible. We are endeavouring to keep them free from illness over winter. As a parent of a son who wore shorts right through school I understand that some bales are not worth fighng, however we do wish to encourage the students to wear warm pants! The summer dresses for the girls are not part of the winter uniform and should not be worn with track pants or leggings underneath. On Wednesday we had a walk through the school with our 2018 Prep parents and I was quite surprised to hear that there are over 60 students at the kindergarten. We need to plan for this influx early as we currently average 35 preps. As such, we would encourage all families to enrol their child for Prep 2018 as soon as praccal to assist us in this planning. Government schools do have zones and it appears that we may need to look carefully at addresses in the future. If you have, a child already enrolled at Haddon there is a guaranteed place for siblings but we do need their enrolment as soon as possible. Principals Report OUR VISION Our vision at Haddon Primary School is to provide a posive, safe learning community which movates and supports students to become acve learners for the 21st century.

As parents may be aware, we are hosting a school review this year, as part of the

Department’s Improvement cycle. We review all aspects of our school programs to

identify what we do well and what we may include moving into the future. Gaye and I

will host a parent forum next Thursday at 2.30 in the library and the purpose of this

will be to gauge a parent’s perspective on what we want to keep in addition to what

may be something for the future.

A series of student focus groups will also form part of our decision-making. I have held

the first session and I was amazed at how insightful the students from grade 4 /5 F

were. One issue came through quite strongly and that was to keep the concert! We all

enjoy this event but to hear these students articulate how important it is to them, was

quite humbling. Several more focus groups will take place.

Students in Grade 3 & 5 will be undertaking NAPLAN commencing the week of eighth

of May. It is a parent’s choice to withdraw their child from this testing program. Some

students are exempt but we have had parents who have preferred their child not to

participate. Some students do become anxious. If you would like your child withdrawn

please contact Gaye or myself.

Winter is coming and has hit us this week! Many of our children clearly do not feel the

cold. Teachers have their Puffer coats and gloves and students have short sleeves.

Please make sure that your child has their jumper with them and coats if possible. We

are endeavouring to keep them free from illness over winter. As a parent of a son who

wore shorts right through school I understand that some battles are not worth

fighting, however we do wish to encourage the students to wear warm pants! The

summer dresses for the girls are not part of the winter uniform and should not be

worn with track pants or leggings underneath.

On Wednesday we had a walk through the school with our 2018 Prep parents and I

was quite surprised to hear that there are over 60 students at the kindergarten. We

need to plan for this influx early as we currently average 35 preps. As such, we would

encourage all families to enrol their child for Prep 2018 as soon as practical to assist

us in this planning. Government schools do have zones and it appears that we may

need to look carefully at addresses in the future. If you have, a child already enrolled

at Haddon there is a guaranteed place for siblings but we

do need their enrolment as soon as possible.
