Tuesday Update 2

Reminders Grocery Store Hours

Our residents have reported that shopping at Publix an hour before closing (7:00 pm or after) is a great time to shop as the store has far fewer shoppers than during the day. So if the 65+ shopping hour of 7:00 am is a bit early and crowded, consider going in the evening!

Feeding the wildlife Spring has sprung and the wildlife are coming around again! Please note you should never feed ANY wild animals anywhere in the village - especially the alligators. In some cases feeding these critters is against Florida law! So enjoy the beauty of these animals but leave the feeding up to the Lord!

Thursday Phonevite Calls Remember to answer your phones at 10:00 am each Thursday for the weekly message from our President Don Maness.

Friday Facebook Video Message Be sure to check your Facebook every Friday as Don Maness posts a new video message designed to lift your spirits! We are having a great time producing them for our Facebook page and hope you will share them with all your friends!

Staff Spotlight Real Estate and Activities/Communications

Rounding out the staff spotlight are 2 offices that are unrelated but equally important! Property Sales Manager Kellie Hoch plays a critical role in the Village as the first person a potential new resident meets. Her knowledge of the Village and the properties for sale are key to our growth and she does a fantastic job! Oh and yes, if you want to move within the village, she can help you there too! Todd Bishop is our new Activities/Communications Director whose responsibilities became very different 2 weeks into the job! Communications has become very important during this time and Todd has helped to introduce weekly messages as well as the brand new Tuesday Update newsletter format. But don’t worry, he can’t wait to get the activities started back up!

Wesleyan Village Directory The 2020 Village Historical Directory was submitted to Lifetouch for publication. However we have been notified that Lifetouch’s operations have been shut down until at least August. This means that our directories will not be printed at this time.

Do not fear, though, because they will be printed once Lifetouch resumes operation this fall.

Also, some have indicated that they have not received their “free” picture. We can only wait until they reopen and then they can be notified.

Thanks for your patience!

Tuesday Update 4

From the Office of the President May 1, 2020, is almost here which means summer will soon be upon us. Wow! Winter residents continue to head home for the summer months since COVID-19 has delayed many of our winter residents from leaving the village as originally planned. We look forward to seeing them return next fall and winter months. “God speed” for those

who are heading home soon. On April 24, 2020, there was a board meeting with all members present in the Nicholson Center and one member connected via ZOOM. Here are a few highlights to share with our community. 1. The Board of Directors has approved the placement of eight modular homes on the “Old Church Property.” There will be four homes on Victory and four homes on Melody, from Jasmine to Peace. This is Phase 1 on this property site. The open middle section will be Phase 2 of this project, development still to be determined. When all of the Hernando County approvals have been accomplished, a model home will be placed on one of the eight lots. The survey work will begin soon. 2. The Board of Directors has approved the extension of Epworth Drive. This will take Epworth Drive into the Pasture Field. Survey work will begin soon; however, the “Old Church Property” is the first priority. Phase 1 on this project will add approximately 25 lots to this area. 3. There will be a major repair of a sewer line by the Langport Pond Lift Station. A contract has been awarded to Mr. Claude Hills to repair the sewer line. The work began officially April 17, 2020. 4. The BODs discussed security issues. 5. An Assessments/Rental Rates committee will be appointed by the President with recommendations from the committee due at the September 15, 2020, BOD’s meeting. 6. COVID-19 issues discussed. The current restrictions will continue to remain in place. Your patience and cooperation during this time is greatly appreciated. COVID-19 has been our focus for our recent newsletters, and this report talks about our future. We have a future as individuals and as a community. I believe the Wesleyan Bible Conference Association (WBCA) is a small vine of God’s planting. Let’s lift up our eyes (Ps. 121) and consider our respective future as individuals and as the Wesleyan Village. Jeremiah 29:11 notes, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Our individual and community futures are in the hands of THE LORD GOD ALMIGHTY.

“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”

Thoughts for Discipleship During the Present Time By Kevin Donahue

We have wonderful Christian neighbors. Every Sunday and Wednesday, 10 of us hold a worship service in someone’s driveway. Yesterday, at the end of our worship time, we were asked for thoughts on ways to disciple, especially during the present time. Nothing came to me right away at the time that the question was posed, but something happened today (I believe that it was Spirit driven) that gave me pause to consider this question again. Today the UPS driver delivered a package of medication while I was preparing to power-wash the porch. As he approached, I stopped to thank him for delivering the much-needed medication. He asked me if it was ok to put the package on the chair, now outside on the driveway. As he placed the package in the chair, I asked him his name. He said his name was Tim (the same as our son who lives in California), and he wondered why I had asked him for his name. I told him that my wife and I were praying for everyone who had to work out in public during this time and we would like to add his name to this list. He said, “Sure” and thanked me. I hollered out, “God Bless You” as he left. Right after he left, I thought about the question that was asked yesterday. It seems to me that God has given us a unique way to disciple, to spread the good news and to sow wonderful seeds, during a time when people are in even more need of the knowledge of an awesome, powerful and caring God. We could all consider starting a “disciple prayer list,” a prayer list that could also help us to disciple at the same time. Think about the opportunity. A lot of us are now ordering food and other supplies on-line. As different delivery people arrive, we can ask them their names and assure them that Jesus cares and that we care enough to pray for them by name. I know when my mail comes, I can be close enough, yet spaced correctly, to engage my mailperson in the same way. When, and if, I venture out, everyone that I contact, who serves me, is an opportunity to have this same conversation. While speaking to these people, I could also tell them about our “driveway services” and invite them to the attend. If we exceed 10 people, we could splinter off and start new groups in other driveways. Thank God there are other opportunities to consider also. We now have family and friends who are working out of their homes with children also at home doing school work on-line. It should be easier to find specific times each day to create a family/friend “love calendar”. That is, agreed upon days and times to FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, etc. where we can do devotions together, discuss positive messages that God gives us in His Word or how we have discipled others this week. It seems to me that we now have more time to serve God and others. This pandemic has an upside if we use our time and opportunities more wisely. God will send people to you, even by telephone. Be aware of these opportunities. Be prepared for these opportunities. The world needs our testimonies and guidance. Just by showing our joy and peace in Him in these times will speak volumes to others. Just give Him the Glory and keep Him as the reason for your attitude in every conversation. Thank you, Lord, for Salvation, Peace, Joy and for supplying all our needs.
