MONTHLY REPORT ON ACTIVITIES OF NETFISH DURING APRIL 2018

1) Summary:

As part of its various extension activities, the NETFISH conducted 15 awareness programmes in the month of April 2018, benefitting around 429 fishery stakeholders.

2) Major Activities during the month:

Participation in Mathrubhumi Karshika Mela at Perumbavoor

Distribution of life jackets at Munambam Fishing harbour

Participation in the Minister’s Meeting for Development of Fisheries in Konkan

region especially in Sindhudurg district

Coordinated the HACCP training programme organized by RD, MPEDA, Veraval

4) Region-wise activities of NETFISH during April 2018

1. WEST BENGAL In West Bengal, 4 extension programmes were conducted during April 2018 as per the details given below.

On 20th of the month the State Coordinator did a presentation on Fish Nutri Cart to the Dept. of Science and Technology, West Bengal at Vigyan Chetana Bhaban, Salt Lake City and had a meeting at Biodiversity Board, Kolkata, regarding livelihood and restoration of mangrove project.

In addition to the above, the following are the works and activities performed during the month.

3. ANDHRA PRADESH In Andhra Pradesh, no awareness programmes were conducted in April 2018. Regional Review meeting for NGO was conducted on 12th of the month in which activities of NETFISH during the past year were discussed and action plan for 2018-19 was finalised. 5. TAMIL NADU SOUTH In Tamil Nadu South region, no awareness programmes were conducted during the month. Annual review meeting for HDCs and NGOs were conducted on 5th April 2018. On 23rd of the month, SCO visited Colachel fishing harbour to record fish landings and to assess harbour conditions with HDC Colachel. On the same day SCO met AD, State Fisheries office Nagercoil, to discuss regarding NETFISH-State Fisheries Joint extension/awareness programmes.

During On-board training programme special attention was given for the need and proper usage of life jackets in addition to the hygienic fish handling practices. 8 numbers of Life jackets were also distributed to the fishermen in the boat.

9. MAHARASHTRA In Maharashtra, activities during the month included a few meetings and discussions. NETFISH review meeting was conducted at RD, Mumbai on 6th April 2018. As per the instruction from DD, MPEDA, SCO had attended the Meeting at Sahyadri Guest House with Ministers for Development of Fisheries in Konkan region especially in Sindhudurg district on 7th April 2018. 10. GUJARAT During the month, no awareness programmes were conducted in Gujarat region. From 24th to 27th SCO had attended the HACCP training programme conducted by RD, MPEDA, Veraval.
