The Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-Town in association with Saifee Hospital, Mumbai and the Rotary Club Arusha Mount Meru (RI Dist 9211) organised the 3rd International Free Medical Camp in East Africa – a free eye cataract surgery and orthopaedic camp for the economically weak and deserving from all walks of life in Arusha, Tanzania from 10th to 12th March 2017.
This camp aptly named Project Good Health was represented by:

2. Rtn Abuzar N. Zakir, Chairman, Medical Camps – Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-Town
3. Dr. Mustafa Parekh, renowned Ophthalmic Surgeon from Saifee Hospital, Mumbai
4. Dr. Huzefa Dhansura, renowned Ophthalmic Surgeon from Saifee Hospital, Mumbai

This camp was held at the premises of Hindu Mandal Hospital in Arusha and nearly about 1535 patients were screened and checked, plus 53 eye cataract surgeries and four excision biopsies of small tumours were conducted free of charge.

could otherwise not afford treatment, were crying with joy and thanked Rotary and Saifee Hospital, Mumbai for sending expert eye doctors to Arusha. Many who were literally blind for the last so many years could now see clearly after the surgery and were seen hugging and embracing their family members and profusely thanking the doctors.
Once the camp was completed, the team then left for a 6-day climb to summit Mt. Kilimanjaro (the highest peak in Africa). Mt. Kilimanjaro is also known as the single highest standing peak in the world at 20,000 feet. The Rotary/Saifee Hospital team reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro on 17th March, 2017 to spread the message of good health and to follow the path of international peace and understanding.

Child Welfare Committee Report
The Child Welfare Committee was constituted by PP Bipin Jain when he was the President of Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-Town. The Mid-day Meal Project of the ISKCON Food Relief Foundation (FFRF) was included the same year and assigned to the Child Welfare Committee. Since then, there has been no looking back. RCBMT has been either the largest donor or the second larger donor to this project. This year has been no different – RCBMT has once again emerged as the largest donor. Figures revealed by IFRF are reproduced below:
We are the largest donor by far. This achievement was possible because of the strong leadership of President Sucharita and the support, encouragement and guidance from all Rotarians.
Most importantly, this achievement was possible because of the generous donations given by Rotarians and friends of Rotary, particularly two large hearted donors — Rtn. Ashwin Shah (`5 lakh) and Rtn Vice President Manoj Jalan's cousin, Mr. Asim Agarwalla (`15 lakh). We shall remain grateful to both of them.

Treatment begins for malnourished children in Potkhal/Baste
On 26th March, we started treating the malnourished children in Potkhal/Baste villages under the Child Nutrition Project. The entire programme will be headed by Dr. Bhanushali from Wada who will visit the villages from time to time and conduct medical check-ups. Dr. Bhanushali will also treat any child that is sick.
Village committee members have also been mobilised to visit the children's homes and interact with the mothers and inquire about the child’s progress.

One hundred and twenty-seven beneficiaries were given appropriate mobility appliances on 19th March 2017 at a distribution camp held at Mahatma Gandhi Vidyalaya, Ambernath. The beneficiaries were previously identified at a screening camp held in February earlier this year.
The details of the appliances are as follows :
This whole initiative was financially supported by the Fuchs Lubricants (India) Pvt. Ltd. and Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-Town.
The distribution camp was attended by Rtn Kersi Hilloo (Managing Director, Fuchs Lubricants), Rtn Gaurav Kapadia, Rtn Munna Mitha, Dr. U.S. Rao, Ms Kanchan Poojary, the CSR Head of Fuchs Lubricants, and other executives of the company.
NASEOH extends its deep gratitude and appreciation of the continued support of Fuchs Lubricants (India) Pvt. Ltd. and the Rotary Club of Bombay Mid-Town in helping to meet the mobility needs of people with disabilities in and around Ambernath.
