This helps them learn communication skills to use every day. This also improves their daily task skills and gives them an understanding of the world around them. Team work is an important skill for children to learn at a young age because it is a necessary skill to use on a day to day basis. At an early childhood education center, children can interact with their own age group and learn how to help others perform a common task. Children demand a lot of time and attention and early childhood education is a fundamental part of their development. Children will engage in outside playtime, inside free time, as well as structured learning experiences. Children will develop beneficial new abilities and existing abilities will improve with practice. For the very young we work around the 5 Senses, developing recognition and understanding through hearing, sight, smell, taste and touch. As the child develops we add self-help skills, manners and compassion. The older children learn while working in the Language Arts, Mathematics, Discovery/Science, Art, Dramatic Play/Housekeeping, Blocks, Manipulatives and Outdoor Classroom Centers. Music, Creative Movement, Dance, Gymnastics, and Guest Speakers are brought in throughout the month to expand our themes and provide entertainment. We understand that each child grows and matures at their own pace as they go through the many stages of early childhood. It is very important that the Teachers and staff of Brookwood Academy work closely with the parents through conversation, daily reports, monthly Main Events, and scheduled semester confer-ences to agree upon and plan goals for each individual child. By working together as a team, we can provide the best path for the intellectual and personal development of each child.

We are havinga great school year so far.Preparations are already on goingfor a fun filled and educational summer. We are looking forward to the beginning of the new school year on August 19th. Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK for all children 4 years old on or before September 1, 2013) will be starting on Wednesday, August 21. It is wonderful to have the support of the Department of Education, Child Care Coalition and School Readiness Program. What a win-win situation for the children of Hillsborough County. Please plan to attend our VPK Open House on Tuesday, April 23rd from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30p.m. Brookwood Academy is open year round, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. While we operate under "Academic School Year" and "Summer Program" time framed contracts, our focus is always to prepare the children for entering elementary school while having fun. Bethany is someone I met when she was just 15. Her step dad suggested I hire her.
