Welcome!
In my work with young adults over the years, I have had many conversations about what God
wants them to do with their life. This is a question that is relevant to not just young adults!
What does God want us to do with our life?
Today we will ask that question as we look at the story of when Jesus calls his disciple Simon by
his nickname, Peter. We will see that Jesus offers Peter a much bigger purpose for his life than
he previously thought he had. I believe this story has much to say about the life God desires for
each of us as we continue our journey from Sinners to Saints: Becoming Who God Sees.

God of mercy, we confess that, like Simon Peter and the disciples,

we grab for more than we need. Doubting your loving purposes,
we shrink from living as your followers.
Doubting your loving plan, we become stumbling blocks in your creation.
Forgive us that we may gain new life in you and continue to work to grow your church,
as you have commanded us.
Now, hear me, as in silence I confess to you my personal sins ...

It’s Game Time! During Lent, the
sermons will be about people who had big
life changes because of God; they even had their names
changed! This week our story is about
Peter. Here’s how the game will work: there is a question below and Pastor Jeff will mention the answer at some point in his
sermon. Listen closely and if you can
answer it correctly, bring the answer to
Pastor Bill at the end of the service
for a treat!
What does Caiaphas mean?
__________
The words “Do this in remembrance of me” are carved into
the front of our Communion table.
This helps us remember that Jesus
instructed us to celebrate this meal of bread and cup
together, as he did with his disciples.
