Calling all Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion St. Norbert Parish spiritually supports parishioners who are unable to a end Mass on Sundays. Extraordinary Ministers (EMs) of Holy Communion are dispatched to bring Holy Communion to the homebound following the 7:30 and 9 a.m. Masses. Each EM is provided with a short list of people to visit. Visits involve a short prayer session and giving Holy Communion. It is simple yet incredibly meaningful to the homebound. At one me, a visit is both a corporal and a spiritual work of mercy!
Training is provided including “ride-along” trips with an experienced EM before you will be commissioned and assigned.

Weekly Parish Offering Thank you for your continuing support of St. Norbert Parish. For the fiscal year July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018, our parish budget calls for $26,470 to be donated weekly at the Sunday collection in order for the Parish to break even. Weekly collections that are less than $26,470 require the use of our reserve account to pay our expenses. The collection total for Sunday, April 8, was $26,277.99. These collections are not only for operating expenses each week, but also for any ongoing repair work, upgrades, etc. to our parish facility. Your regular donations are needed for the good of St. Norbert Parish and the spread of the Gospel.

Reflecting on God’s Word Some vaccina ons only last so long. A er a predictable amount of me the immunity wears off and people are suscep ble to the same old disease again. That’s when it’s me for a booster shot. It seems that we also need booster shots for faith. Bap sm alone is not enough. The joy and peace that filled our communi es two weeks ago are probably star ng to flag and our old selves may be star ng to re-emerge. We need a weekly dose of Resurrec on appearances, in the Eucharist we share.
All three of this week’s readings as well as the psalm point out the weakness of our human faith. Yet they emphasize the forgiveness and blessing that are always available to those who turn to “Jesus Christ the righteous one.” Can we recognize ourselves in Luke’s Gospel today? Do we realize how deeply we depend on our weekly “booster shot” of the Eucharist to remember and reclaim the saving presence of the risen Lord?

Call for More Ushers There are several ushers who have and con nue to faithfully provide assistance at the Saturday and Sunday Masses. Four to six ushers are usually needed at each Mass. It is not possible for each usher to come every week, due to travel or other commitments. There is a need for addi onal ushers to serve, especially at the following Masses:

Reflexionemos sobre la Palabra de Dios
El efecto de algunas vacunas es temporal. Después de un empo predecible la inmunidad desaparece y las personas vuelven a ser suscep bles a la misma enfermedad. Es entonces que se necesita una inyección de refuerzo. Parece ser que también nosotros necesitamos inyecciones de refuerzo para nuestra fe. El bau smo solo no es suficiente. El gozo y la paz que inundaron nuestras comunidades hace dos semanas ya empiezan probablemente a decaer y nuestras viejas maneras de ser pueden que estén de nuevo resurgiendo. Necesitamos una dosis semanal de apariciones del Resucitado en la Eucaris a que compar mos.
Las tres lecturas de esta semana, al igual que el salmo, señalan la debilidad de nuestra fe humana. No obstante enfa zan el perdón y la bendición que están siempre a disposición de aquellos que se vuelven a “Jesucristo, el Justo”. ¿Podemos reconocernos en el Evangelio de Lucas de hoy? ¿Nos damos cuenta de cuán profundamente necesitamos nuestra “inyección de refuerzo” semanal de la Eucaris a a fin de poder recordar y reclamar la presencia salvadora del Señor resucitado?

Clases de Ciudadanía en Inglés Caridades Católicas del Condado de Orange ofrece clases de ciudadanía en inglés GRATUITAMENTE. Estas clases son para las personas que harán su entrevista en inglés. La persona será colocada en el nivel de clase apropiado de acuerdo a su prueba de nivel de inglés. El costo del libro para las clases es de $10.
¿Cuándo puedo tomar la prueba de nivel de inglés? Puede venir cualquier martes o miércoles entre 5:30 a 9 p.m. Todos los estudiantes deben tomar la prueba de nivel de inglés.
¿Si tengo un nivel de inglés avanzado, puedo inscribirme? ¡Claro que puede inscribirse! Ofrecemos una clase especial, la cual se enfoca en la preparación para su entrevista. Ofrenda Semanal Parroquial Gracias por su apoyo continuo a la Parroquia de San Norberto. Para el año fiscal del 1 de julio, 2017 al 30 de julio, 2018, nuestro presupuesto pide que $26,470 sean donados semanalmente en la colecta dominical para cubrir los gastos de nuestra Parroquia. Las colectas semanales de menos de $26,470 requieren el uso de nuestra cuenta de reserva para pagar nuestros gastos. La colecta del domingo pasado 8 de abril fue $26,277.99. Estas colectas no son sólo para cubrir nuestros gastos operativos cada semana, sino que también son utilizadas para reparaciones, mantenimiento, etc. para las instalaciones de nuestra parroquia. Formación en la Fe en Español Para Padres de los Niños de Primera Comunión Invitación a los padres de familia cuyos niños harán su Primera Comunión este año. El sábado 21 de abril, a las 6 p.m., en el gimnasio, tendremos una reunión de preparación e información para la gran celebración de la Primera Comunión. La pareja es bienvenida pero si no es posible que asistan los dos, está bien que sólo uno de los padres esté presente. Por favor anoten y traigan las preguntas que tengan al respecto para recibir la información adecuada.
Desde ya agradecemos el esfuerzo que harán en par cipar en esta noche de información, ya que todos los padres par ciparán el día de la celebración del sacramento de sus hijos. Human Trafficking Prevention Presentation St. Irenaeus Health Ministry's "Bridge of Light: Human Trafficking to Human Triumph Ministry" invites you to a end a human trafficking preven on presenta on by Live2Free on Monday, April 25, at 7 p.m. in the Educa on Building at St. Irenaeus Catholic Church at 5201 Evergreen Avenue in Cypress.
Live2Free is a student mobiliza on group from Vanguard University that supports and trains college youth to increase awareness about human trafficking among Orange County students. This form of modern-day slavery affects diverse groups in every social context. All are welcome, especially parents, grandparents, teenagers, teachers and youth leaders. The informa on provided is vital to everyone who wants to fight against human trafficking and to keep our kids safe.

Popcorn Theology for Young Adults Our Lady of Guadalupe Small Group Ministries will present Popcorn Theology on Friday, April 20. Popcorn Theology is a monthly presenta on and discussion for young adults between the ages of 18-35. April's topic is: A Fired Google Engineer, Sex, Gender, and the Church. Par cipants will seek to uncover all facets of their faith, par cularly with regard to the Theology of the Body.
