Tenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Thank You to Some Special Teachers!!! Mary, Mother of the Church offers its heartfelt gratitude and pledge of prayers to four long-
time parishioners who have given MUCH to our parish and the Catholic Church in La Crosse! In many ways these four will be irreplaceable as they conclude their dedicated
service to our youth: --Tom Thibodeau who has led RCIA and the Confirmation class in recent years and received the 2008 Man of the Year award (36 years)! --Marge Weiske who has taught 5th grade for Aquinas Catholic Schools, most recently at Blessed Sacrament School (41 years)! --Deb Schams who has taught 2nd Grade for Aquinas Catholic Schools, most recently at Cathedral School (36 years)! --Julie Wagner who has taught Kindergarten for Aquinas Catholic Schools, most recently at Cathedral School (22 years)! May God bless them for their generous service with their gifts and talents in the name of Jesus Christ! We have been blessed and we ask God’s blessings upon them!
Moose Luncheon at MMOC The Moose have generously accommodated many of our parish events during the last several years, such as Funeral Luncheons, Rummage Sales, and Cookie Walks. In appreciation for the hospitality of their facilities, Mary Mother of the Church will host a luncheon for the staff and members of the Moose in our new Parish Hall on Tuesday, June 26 at 12 Noon. Parishioners are welcome to attend, especially those who have volunteered at parish events held at the Moose Lodge. If you plan to attend or wish to volunteer, please RSVP to the parish office: 788-5483, ext. 2
Sesquicentennial Books For Sale Celebrating its 150th anniversary (March 3, 1868 - March 3, 2018) the Diocese of La Crosse has published a beautiful, hardcover, full-color, 464-page coffee-
table book exploring the Catholic faith of the people of west central Wisconsin: “Feed My Lambs”. The $33 books are on sale in the parish office.
Food Baskets for June Catholic Charities is grateful for all the food donations and is most in need of personal hygiene items big bottles shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tooth
paste, bar soap, razors, shaving cream, feminine hygiene pads, tooth brushes, hair brushes, toilet paper, and laundry soap.
Pictures of St. Pius Parish The history of St. Pius X Parish (1960 –
2000) is being written, and we need pictures to bring it extra life. Do you have some photos to share which demonstrate parish life and school life? We are looking for pictures of liturgies (e.g. baptisms, Confirmations, First Communions, weddings), meetings, events, activities, celebrations, and gatherings of all kinds. Perhaps some of these pictures would also show the church interior, altar, baptismal font, as well
as other features at the first school/church (at Mormon Coulee and Broadview) and at Christ the King Chapel (at the Diocesan Center). Please identify the picture, the people in it, where and when it took place, along with your name, telephone number and address so that it can be returned to you. Please place it all in an envelope with St. Pius X Pictures written on the front and put it in the designated box in the back of church. While we may not use all the pictures that are submitted, please help so we can “tell the story” through pictures!
MMOC Piano Update In 2015 the parish generated a Wish List to create goals for Building Our Future Together. While the parish was intentional about creating a Wish List in the spirit of "aiming for the ideal," we were also committed to "building what we could afford." The Wish List included a Music Room for practices, etc., and, if we were going to include a Music Room, we knew we would need another piano. Among the goals from music ministry was a grand piano, not for the Music Room but for our church, which would allow us to "re-purpose" our sanctuary piano for the Music Room. When reviewing the entire 2015 Wish List, it seems we have been able to reach most of our goals. Therefore, seeking a grand piano has been our starting point. Will it come to pass? Up to this point, we have received some generous offers, including household pianos, financial gifts, and suggestions for refurbishing. Due to the financial offers for a grand piano, we are researching these options first, to see how feasible this really might be. In the meantime, we are grateful for the interest and offers which have been expressed. More information will be shared in the coming weeks.

Building Our Future Together One year ago our Building Our Future Together
bulletin article began: “Construction is underway for our new Parish Hall and Religious Education Center! It is with a most sincere and heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who has offered prayers and made sac-rificial gifts to make the dream of a new facility a re-ality!” It’s enjoyable to look back and reflect on the progress we’ve witness over these past couple of years.
Two years ago (2016) the school building had been removed and we were working on filling in the hole left where the school basement had been. We were also working with the City on a re-zoning re-quest (to R-4), and we were making preliminary plans for the parking lot to be constructed on the north side of church. In addition, we were preparing to begin the construction of the new storage shed on the vacant west property in anticipation of removing the rented “storage pod” along the south parking ar-ea.
Last year at this time, the north parking area had been completed and was being used. The storage shed had been built and was housing various things, especially our Chicken-Que equipment. We were receiving construction bids, and Fowler & Hammer was on site doing some “pre-construction” work in preparation for the excavation crew to begin digging.
Last year’s article also mentioned the largest category of revenue yet to be realized “is the fulfill-ment of outstanding pledges. We have been experi-encing an extremely high level of pledges being paid. Thank you! As we go forward for the next 18 months it will be important that pledges continue to be paid. The parish has been blessed by so many generous people!” That beneficence has continued.
This year we can look back with pride and grate-ful hearts at our new facility. We’ve been using our new Parish Hall for the past couple of months, and the Religious Education Center and Music Room will be finished in just a couple of weeks. Our campus has a look of “wholeness” with the landscaping, parking areas, and driveways all installed. Fowler & Hammer, who has now been on-site for one entire year, is packing up some tools and getting ready to move on to new projects.
One thing that has remained constant for the past 2-3 years is our gratitude. We are grateful to God for providing the faith and courage that have moved our hearts together. And THANK YOU to everyone who has been so supportive of this major project and who has been exceptionally generous in making personal, sacrificial gifts and offering prayers for the success of our building project. It has been amazing!
Truly we have been Building Our Future Together. May God bless you abundantly in return!
The Rosary is prayed before each weekday Mass Tuesday through Friday beginning at 7:05 am.
