On March 17-25, I led a team of 33 doctors, medical providers, med students and logistical personnel to serve

in Tela, Honduras. In Honduras, we worked at the local hospital, set up a community clinic and provided a

childrens program at local schools. During one of our days, we had the opportunity to work at the local

prison and set up a clinic for the prisoners.

I accompanied our team to the prison in order to coordinate with the Commander of the Prison to make sure

the clinic was set up properly. While there though, our team was asked to talk to the prisoners, as one whole

group, while they gathered and waited to be seen by our doctors. Therefore at the beginning of the clinic, I

got to address the prison population. I shared not only about the intentions of our medical team, but also got

to share & proclaim the message of the Gospel. All the while, the prisoner's seemed to listen intently.

Later, while giving the prisoner's medical attention, Dr. Jack Galbraith had a powerful conversation with one

of the prisoners named Marlon. Marlon was very spiritually open, seeking and asking a lot of questions. In

his wrestling with God, he wanted to discuss more with a pastor. So Dr. Jack introduced me to Marlon, and

the two of us discussed intently who Jesus is, what He accomplished on the cross, and the invitation to make

Him Savior and Lord. At a point in the conversation, Marlon said that he wanted to trust Jesus, he wanted a

new life. Marlon was from Belize, and spoke good English. But he was in a Honduran prison for crimes com-

mitted in the country and was about to be released within a month.

So, Marlon and I prayed together. I prayed and Marlon repeated after me, and with a heart full of faith, Mar-

lon asked Jesus to forgive his sins, come into his life, and be His Savior and Lord.

Afterwards, I went through the Bible to discuss what it meant to be a new creation in Christ, and gave him a

Bible to keep. Also, I encouraged him to read his Bible, and gave him suggested verses to read on his own. In

addition, I encouraged him to attend the services while in prison. Following up with him is going to be chal-

lenging because after his release he will be deported back to Belize. So, please pray for Marlon. I will work

on trying to get someone to follow him up while he is still in prison. But, once he leaves the country, it will be

    challenging.

Your prayers and support are changing the lives of people, like Marlon, around the globe. Thanks be to God

for allowing us to use the vehicle of medicine to touch lives with the love of Jesus.

Me with Marlon after he trusted Christ

and with his new Bible in hand.
