THE COMMUNITY AT PRAYER (in unison)O God,

when we make ourselves the center of the universe, humble us under Your starry skies.

When we get wrapped up in worry, grant us the serenity of spiritthat comes from meditation on the work of your hands.

When we fret about not having timeremind us that a thousand yearsare but a day in your sight

When we lose respect for life, enable us to see our kinship with all creatures,to feel our oneness with the growing plants, the walking animals, the flying birds.

When we mismanage this good earth, call us to be good stewards of the air that we pollute, the resources we exploit, the soil we erode, the sea in which we dump our garbage.

When we are irritable with others, steady our spirit with a clear perspective of the problem.

When we feel alone and cut off, surround us with signs of love in faces of love.

For we pray in the name of the Good Shepherd, who knows us better than we know ourselves.
