Programs organized by the Department

1. Department of Mechanical Engineering of Finolex Academy of Management and

Technology, Ratnagiri conducted expert lecture on “Opportunities in PLM Engineering” on

20th

January, 2017 for the students of final year Mechanical Engineering. It was delivered by

Mr. Parag Hadap, Director, CADEM software solutions, Pune. Prof. M. L. Naik and Prof. P.

B. Horambe organized it.

2. Department of Mechanical Engineering organized Expert lecture on “Employability

Enhancement” on 14th

January 2017 in IT Seminar Hall for students of Third Year

The lecture was delivered by Mr. Paresh Teredesai, IT Service Centre Head, Kone Cranes

India Pvt. Ltd, Pune. Prof J. S. Anavakar introduced the Resource person to the audience. Mr.

Teredesai interacted with student regarding expectation of industry from fresh engineering

graduates. He also guided students on how to write resume, how to face technical and

personal interview and group discussion through his experiences. The event was organized by

Prof J. S. Anavkar and Prof S. S. Mestry.

3. The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Finolex Academy of Management and

Technology, Ratnagiri conducted an expert lecture on “Opportunities of Energy Saving in

Thermal, Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning” on 18th

January, 2017 for the students of final

year Mechanical Engineering. It was delivered by Mr. Ajitkumar S Datar who is

professionally an approved energy auditor by BEE Government of India. Prof. V S Bagade,

Prof. S U Mayekar, Prof. H V Chavan and Prof. D S Bandivadekar were the coordinators for

this expert lecture.

delivered by Mr. Vasant Dinkar Mestry who is Managing Director of Suvidya Institute of

Technology, Mumbai. Prof. H V Chavan, Prof. M. L. Naik, Prof. P. B. Horambe and Prof D.

S. Bandivadekar were the coordinators for this seminar.

5. The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Finolex Academy of Management and

Technology, Ratnagiri arranged seminar on “Awareness of GATE 2018” on 07th February,

2017 for the students of third year Mechanical Engineering. It was delivered by Mr. Vijay

Acharya who is Business Development Manager (Strategic Alliances) of Vidyalankar Group

of Institutions. Speaker included importance of GATE, historical result analysis of GATE,

Strategies of preparation & time management while writing the exam. Prof. H V Chavan,

Prof. S U Mayekar & Prof. M L Naik were the coordinators for this seminar.

6. The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Finolex Academy of Management and

Technology, Ratnagiri conducted a 40 hours “Course on ANSYS FEA” during 11th - 12th

and 17th - 19th February 2017 for third year Mechanical Engineering students in

collaboration with ARK Info solutions pvt. Ltd. Dr. M. S. Kirkire, Prof. M L Naik and Prof.

P B Horambe coordinated the workshop successfully. Prof. V Murali Mohan, Prof. Rasal and

Prof. Kavhale extended the necessary support during the workshop.

7. Mechanical Engineering Students Association (MESA) organized an event TECHNO-VERVE

8. The Department of Mechanical Engineering, organized Industrial visit to Automotive

Corporation of Goa Limited (ACGL), Sattari, Goa on 4th

of March 2017 for B.E Mechanical

Engineering students. Entire visit was successfully planned and coordinated by Prof.

Mahadev Naik and Prof Priyanka Tupe. Total 34 students of B.E. Mechanical along with 2

faculty members visited ACGL.

Industrial Visit to ACGL, Goa Campus

9. The Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted a 3 days workshop on “PLC (Allen

Bradley) & SCADA (Wonder Ware In Touch)” during 17th

- 19th

March 2017 for the third

year Mechanical Engineering students. It was conducted by Mr. Ramesh Wagchure (Senior

Project Developer, Prolific Systems & Technologies Pvt. Ltd., Pune). Workshop commenced

on 17th

of March 2017.Prof. V. V. Nagale, Prof. A. S. Yekane & Prof. S. S. Gurav

coordinated the workshop successfully.

Participants - during theory/practical session during workshop on - PLC & SCADA

10. Department of Mechanical Engineering organized two days Industrial training for final

year Mechanical Engg students at Accurate Engg, Hadapsar, Pune with an objective to

minimize gap between curriculum and industrial practices in the field of metrology. Total 30

number of students participated in this training. The training was based on application based

advanced metrology, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD &T) and 3D coordinate

measuring machine (CMM) with scanning system. The whole program was successfully

organized and coordinated by Prof. Hemant V Chavan.

11. Department of Mechanical Engineering of Finolex Academy of Management and

Technology, Ratnagiri conducted workshop on “Maintenance of Refrigeration and Air-

Conditioning Systems” on 24th March, 2017 for students of final year Mechanical

Engineering. Prof. V S Bagade and Prof. S U Mayekar coordinated this workshop.

12. Department of Mechanical Engineering organized a course enrichment program for

second year Mechanical Engineering students on 25/03/2017 at C-1/6. The students were

enriched with contents beyond syllabus such as - kinematic synthesis of mechanisms,

accuracy points, spacing of accuracy points, coupler curves and cognate linkages. At the end,

students were introduced to SAM (Synthesis and Analysis of Mechanism) software. Total

109 students registered for the course. The course was conducted by Prof. Sachin Mestry and

coordinated by Prof. Milind Yadav under the guidance of Dr. Milind Kirkire (Head,

Mechanical Engineering Department).

13. Department of Mechanical Engineering conducted seminar on ‘Six Sigma’ on 29th

March,

2017 for final year Mechanical Engineering students. With an objective to give overview of

Six Sigma and its benefits for students in career, the seminar was delivered by Dr. M. S.

Kirkire (Head, Mechanical Engineering department) and coordinated by Prof. H. V. Chavan

and Prof. M. L. Naik. Total 99 students were present for the seminar.

14. The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Finolex Academy of Management and

Technology, Ratnagiri conducted training program on “Aptitude Test” on 27th

to 29th

January, 2017 for the students of final year Mechanical Engineering. It was delivered by Mr.

Mandar Zarekar, CEO, MUDRAA Training. Prof. M. L. Naik and Prof. P. B. Horambe were

the coordinators for this programme.

15. The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Finolex academy of management and

technology organized two day industrial visit at Finolex Industries Limited, Ratnagiri on 20-

04-17 &21-04-17, for third year Mechanical Engg students. Entire visit was organized and

conducted by Mr. Hemant Chavan, Asst Professor in Mechanical Engg Department. Total 77

numbers of students have participated in this industrial visit.

16. The Department of Mechanical Engineering, Finolex Academy of Management and

Technology organized one day industrial visit at Gadre Marine Exports Pvt. Ltd., Ratnagiri

on 14 April 2017,for third year Mechanical Engineering students. Visit was organized with

the aim to overview of different mechanical components of steam boilers and their actual

operation. Hence, the students visited the boiler division. The visit was organized and

conducted by Mr. Deep Bandivadekar.

17. The department of Mechanical Engineering conducted Parents Meet of T.E. Mechanical

Engineering on 25 February, 2017. Prof J. S. Anavkar welcomed all parents for the meet. Dr.

M. S. Kirkire, HoD, addressed the parents while highlighing overall functioning of the

department along with co-curricular & extracurricular programs conducted/organized by the

department; the future plans for various value added & add-on courses and its’ importance

for placement of the students were also discussed.

Social Events 1. The Department of Mechanical Engineering of Finolex Academy of Management and Technology, Ratnagiri organized a “One day training program based on carpentry” at Abhyankar MukBadhir Vidyalaya, Ratnagiri, on 7th February 2017 for the physically handicapped students. In this, training program Prof. Amar Yekane and Mr.Deepak Mestry enlightened the students about the importance, applications and opportunities in context with carpentry.

2. Driving licenses (learning) camp was organized on 21st January 2017. Mr. S. N. Barge and

Mr. R. S. Dhobale (RTO Inspector, Ratnagiri) graced the camp with their presence. Mr. S.N.

Barge addressed students regarding importance of road safety. Driving licenses (learning)

were issued to 98 students from various departments of FAMT. The event was organized by

Prof M.S.Yadav and Prof. H.V.Chavan.

Vehicle competitions at National Level

1. TEAM MATADORS, a team of 15 students from Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics

department participated in National Level ECO KART SERIES 2017, Season 4 at BML

MUNJAL University, Haryana. 54 teams got qualified for this dynamic event across the

country and finally team Matadors achieved 15th

rank amongst 104 teams from colleges

across the nation.

3. Indian Karting Championship 2017 powered by Nexus Group Of Institute held on 26th –

30th of January 2017 at PCNTDA Traffic Park, Pune. The journey of the event began with

the virtual round where teams must submit their design report which includes analysis,

simulation, cad models and calculations of the proposed vehicle. After submissions, scores

were declared wherein Team Redline of FAMT Racing achieved 23rd

4. NSVC 2016-17 organized by Dynamist Motorsports, New Delhi invites students to design

single person, light weight, high efficiency electrical vehicle with three or four pneumatic

tires. The vision of NSVC is to stir the minds of young technocrats to make way for India to

become largest renewable energy hub in the world by increasing public awareness and

understanding of efficient alternative electric vehicles and related technologies. Team

place in country’s first edition of National Solar Vehicle

Challenge out of 69 teams and grabbed the best innovation prize and the lightest vehicle

award and a total prize money of Rs.25000/-. The competition was conducted during 21st to

24th
