Josefin Soppert
Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,
I want to pursue my career as researcher in a biotech company that focused on the research of pharma-ceutical drugs and new biological entities. I will use my skills and passion to contribute to the company‘s purpose discovering and delivering new ways to improve people’s health.
I am currently completing my PhD in molecular and applied biotechnology at the RWTH Aachen University with a strong cardiovascular background using biochemical, molecular and cell biological methods. I am going to graduate in July 2017 and can start working in August.
During my PhD project, I worked with primary cells to elucidate the effect of a cytokine and its soluble receptor on survival and downstream signaling events. I performed inhibition studies and explored the underlying mechanisms using cell-based assays such as viability/proliferation assays, protein kinase activation, flow cytometry, fluorescence microscopy and ELISA.
Additionally, I participated in a Felasa B and cardiovascular methods workshop where I learnt the handling of animals and to apply in vivo techniques in mice, respectively. To gain practice, I assisted during surgery as well as measured heart function before and after onset of infarction.
Regular meetings with colleagues and presentations at several conferences ensured a constant exchange of scientific knowledge and ideas. Motivation and strong desire to succeed encouraged the progress of my PhD project. I am used to independent work including the development of ideas, designing, planning and performing experiments and finally, statistical analysis and interpretation of data.
Coordination of several projects as well as mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students equipped me with organizational and prioritizing skills. As a proficient team player, I can collaborate with peers at all levels and utilize the expertise of colleagues as well as offering my own skills to work efficient and results-oriented.
I appreciate to meet you and to discuss how my qualifications and enthusiasm will be beneficial to your organization’ success.
Sincerely, Josefin Soppert
