Culex (Barraudius) pusillus Maxquart, field-collected from Kuwait, 2013, Character descriptions: Khalaf, 1962:56

Adult. Small species, very dark in general color, par cularly on the abdomen. 

Thorax.  1‐4 lower mesepi‐meral setae present.  Prealar scales absent.

HindLeg.  Hind  biae not speckles and without white stripes. 

Hindtarsus.  Hindtarsomere 1 shorter than hind bia, not more than 0.85 length of hind bia.

Wing.  Wing scales narrow, unicolorous. 

Bionomics:    The other Culex species found in Kuwait have been encountered at low densi es. These are C. pusillus, C. univi atus and C. theileri. These species were not met here un l 1981, when they were discovered associated with An. ste‐phensi in breeding places slightly polluted with organic ma er and par cularly in brackish water. (Salit, 1994)
