Thematic Analysis
“Serious work needs to go into working with clients
to educate them of the potential value of the
process but more importantly the vital role they
have in defining the process”(Future Directions of
Irelands BICP Report).
“SMEs cannot afford to be held to ransom and if
BIM processes and procedures are to be the
"norm", there needs to be strict regulation with
regards the cost of software and upgrades to
software”. (Future Directions of Irelands BICP).
“A similar approach that could be adopted is
that of the Scottish Government who are
piloting a project in each of the main public
sectors i.e. health, education, infrastructure,
utilities, etc” ( Regional Consultation
Workshop).
“Keep it simple. Most Irish firms are small to mid-
sized. Fifty page technical documents about
standard protocols, COBie or PAS 1192 are only
realistically implementable by larger companies
with specialist BIM coordinators or similar”
(Engagement with the Industry Report).
“Encouraging organisations onto a certification path will
make a genuine difference. Organisations will get far
more out of training, guidance notes, information portals
and specialist advice if they understand the actual
business benefits of an actual Level 2 BIM Digitisation
Programme”.
“Practical examples of how BIM made a difference to
others is a compelling business driver.”
“The publication of the BICP BIM in Ireland Report is an
important document for key decision makers within Industry
and academia as it provides them with an understanding
that the BIM process is becoming integral to the delivery of
Irish projects”
“Hard facts of the global BIM mandates encourages the
Irish public sector to listen and commit to the paradigm
shift”
“Cost of implementing BIM for SMEs is high in particular for
training. If the Irish Government want to mandate BIM for
public projects, it may be worth providing some form of
subsidised training allowance for SMEs to upskill”
