I remember hearing my

grandmother sing the chorus

“something good is going to

happen to you...this very day,

Jesus of Nazareth is passing

your way.” It was a song sung

at the beginning of a Christian

program she used to watch. It

planted the idea that if you

looked for the “good” in life

you would find it in Christ. I

believe that!

It is easy to see the glass half

empty, or to think that we

have a personal rain cloud fol-

lowing us everywhere we go,

or to just give in to the drain of

life getting messed up. And it

is true, life does have its chal-

lenges.

But we have some amazing

good news. God, who made

life, came in Jesus to LIVE

among us. He experienced

what we experience. He didn’t

have it easy, just because he

was God. He had friends be-

tray him and others desert

him. He saw loved ones die.

So he touched the hurts of

human beings all around him.

Yet, he found the goodness in

life, too.

Goodness does not exist in the

absence of bad or tragic things.

I believe it exists in the midst

of such things. It is the calm in

the eye of the storm. It is the

peace in trouble, and the as-

surance that God will be with

you through everything (a God

who has been there and still is

with us!)

What would happen if we discov-

ered that Jesus of Nazareth was

walking with us through our day?

We just might gain a heavenly

perspective on earthly things. We

too, might begin to believe that

something good can and will hap-

pen to us—in this life and the

next! If the Easter season teaches

us anything at all, it shouts God’s

message, “This isn’t all you get!”

So when the IF in life gets large

(even overwhelming), remember

the song that comforted my

grandmother: “something good is

going to happen to you...this very

day! Jesus of Nazareth is passing

your way!” God is with us. We

are not alone. Thanks be to God!

See you at the place where we

celebrate God’s goodness! ~jimd.

P.S.~ +a personal word of thanks

to all of our team leaders, musi-

cians, tech team, staff, prayer

team and scores of volunteers

who worked tirelessly this past

weekend for our Easter celebra-

tion, Children’s Egg Hunt, special

services on Thursday and Friday

and the Sunday evening concert.

God bless each of you!
