From Pastor Joe October 2016
Family Ministry Activities
We have some very exciting ministries coming up that all of our CBC family can participate in. Some
of the specific details are found inside our newsletter.
Trunk or Treat – Monday, October 31st
, 6:00-8:00 p.m.
See Kristi’s page for details. This is going to be a wonderful opportunity to meet and interact with
some of our neighbors and to be the “light” of Christ in our community. There is a way for the entire
CBC family to participate, from decorating a vehicle, to registering guests, to being a smiling greeter.
Upward Basketball
While our league play does not begin until January, player sign-ups and volunteer registration begins
in October. Sports evangelism (what Upward is all about) may be the most effective way to reach
families in our community. We have a need for coaches, referees, set-up help, concessions workers,
registration help, prayer support, and offering devotions on game days. Again, there is an
opportunity for every member to be involved at some level in this tremendous community outreach.
See Justin to volunteer and/or to find out where you could be plugged in.
Operation Christmas Child – Dedication Day, November 6th
We will be partnering with thousands of other churches this year by preparing Christmas boxes for
children around the world. This is a great way to celebrate the Thanksgiving and Christmas season by
giving to a child this Christmas. You will be hearing more about this ministry and how easy it is for
you to get involved. We will have brochures at the Connection Center which will tell you exactly how
to pack your shoe box. A limited number of boxes will also be available. We will bring our boxes on
Sunday, November 6th
and dedicate them to the Lord.
TBBA Annual Meeting, FBC Temple Terrace, Monday, October 24th
Because of your generosity, CBC ranks 5th
out of 147 churches in giving through the Tampa Bay
Baptist Association. Come see and hear about all the exciting things that God is doing in the Tampa
Bay area to grow the kingdom that you are a part of. Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. and the
meeting will be at 6:45 p.m. Let us know at the church office if you would like to attend the dinner.
No reservation is required for the meeting. CBC is able to send ten (10) “Voting” members and if you
would like to be considered a “Messenger,” please let us know at the church office as we have
some openings.

the Drama Cast will soon begin rehearsals in October. If you have ever thought about participating in
our Worship Choir and Orchestra the Fall season is a great and exciting time to check us out!
We gather weekly on Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm for Orchestra (High School level or
equivalent experience required: see Pastor Brian) and 7:00pm for Choir (no prior experience required;
just a love to serve and a love to sing: see Pastor Brian).
We want to give a great big WELCOME to several new members of our Worship Choir &
Orchestra family: Sylvia Russell (choir & orchestra), Lilly Brichner (choir), Kaitlyn Swindle (choir),
Richard Harrison (orchestra), and David Kim (choir).
Do your kids have a place
to plug-in and serve? If not, our Children’s Music and Missions programs
are a great place to start.
Our active and exciting Children’s choir programs
for Pre-school & 1st-5th grades are
Wednesday evenings at 6:00pm.
The Fall season has begun but it is never too late to
dive in and be a part of the exciting things that God
is doing through our Children’s choirs!

Sign-ups will begin the end of October. The early registration will
end November 18. So get your forms in early. If you have not
volunteered in the past, I would encourage you to pray about how
