On the occasion of its 20th anniversary, the congress will be held for the very first time in the city of Antwerp, home of the Institute for Tropical Medicine since 1931.

Around 2,000 of the world’s most renowned scientists and experts on tropical medicine and international health gather every two years at this unique event to discuss the recent progress and achievements in their field.

As the world faces unseen waves of migration and movement, it is on the crossroads of a new era in global health, with very different challenges and levels of change. The Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) in Antwerp advances the medical sciences which can improve their fate, through fundamental and applied research, advanced education and the provision of expert services.

At ITM, researchers, medical doctors, veterinarians and nurses from all over the world specialise in tropical medicine and public health. In a stimulating international environment, they take post-graduate master, PhD and specialist expert courses in English or French. The courses stimulate research-mindedness, independent learning and the exchange of experiences.

Know

Our innovative and interdisciplinary research focuses on Pathogens, Patients and Populations - the “3 P’s”. ITM researchers improve our understanding of tropical diseases, and develop better methods for their diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Others study the organisation and management of health care and disease control in regions where means are limited, but needs are huge. We also pay attention to the health of animals, with a focus on the diseases they spread to humans.

Do

Each year, we vaccinate tens of thousands of travellers, and provide care to those who return from abroad with an illness. As a reference centre for tropical diseases, public health and HIV/AIDS, we also deliver a range of other expert services in Belgium and collaborate with partner organisationsacross the globe. We develop and validate diagnostic tests for infectious diseases and perform clinical trials for new or improved treatments. Thirteen ITM laboratories are recognised as national or international reference centres.

Be-cause Health

Be-cause Health is a Belgian platform for International Health that unites academic institutes, services and schools for public health, development organisations and NGOs as well as government services around international healthcare. It aims at strengthening the role and the effectiveness of all actors in the Belgian development cooperation to make quality health care accessible worldwide, through mutual agreement, coordination, and activities that go beyond organisations.

Be-cause Health delegated the task of organizing the ECTMIH congress in 2017 to the Institute for Tropical Medicine Antwerp (ITM).

Federation of European Societies for Tropical Medicine and International Health (FESTMIH)

The Federation was founded in 1995 at Hamburg, during the first European Conference on Tropical Medicine. Fifteen European countries are currently represented on the Federation Council by their respective national societies. FESTMIH provides a strong platform for collaboration toward common goals with sister societies and colleagues in the south. The objectives of FESTMIH are to build upon the interdisciplinary expertise of the national Societies in Europe, for developing European collaboration and North-South partnership towards health development in the tropics, in respect of regional specificities.

The Federation wants specifically to promote harmonisation of health strategies and recommendations related to developing countries, emergency situations and international travellers, to seek the advice from overseas partners for pertinent identification of their health and research priorities, to foster the formation in the tropics of new scientific societies dealing with health sciences, to encourage European harmonisation of training in tropical medicine, and to organise in Europe regular conferences on tropical medicine and international health, as a platform for debate on European research and cooperation in international health.

FESTMIH’s is co-publisher of the periodical Journal “Tropical Medicine and International Health “(TM&IH) and has become one of the leading journals in its field.

The Federation is a member of the World Federation of Academic Institutions for Global Health; it is also a member of the European Academic Global Health Alliance where FESTMIH’s president is also a member of the executive board. The Federation is in close collaboration with the periodical Tropical Medicine and International Health and has established links with the European Schools of Tropical Medicine (Trop Med Europ).

Antwerp

With a history that dates back from the 2nd century, Antwerp built a solid reputation as a rich and strategic city at different points in history. The city started developing an ever more modern port infrastructure in the second half of the 20th century and by the 1990s it rebranded itself as world-class centre of avant-garde fashion and culture, competing with the biggest cities in Europe.

Next to its status as port and fashion city, it has become the world’s diamond centre, with 80% of all the world diamond trade passing through its gateways.

GeneralThe exhibition will take place on the ground floor. The plenary meeting room is located on Level 1 and is connected to the exhibition by stairs. Loading docks at street level allow easy access to the exhibition hall for loading and unloading.

Reservation of booth space and/or other sponsorship items will only be accepted if a signed contract is received and confirmed by the Congress Secretariat. For any questions please contact [email protected].

PaymentThe Congress Secretariat will send an email confirming exhibition space and/or other sponsorship items as well as an invoice for a non-refundable payment of the total amount of the booking. This invoice is to be paid within 30 days. If not paid in time, the exhibition space and other sponsorship items become vacant again. The full amount of sponsorship is to be paid by September 1, 2017. Please clearly mention the invoice number on all payments.

Final allocation of the booths will be made according to the total amount of sponsorship (diamond, platinum, gold, silver and bronze) and the date of the booth space reservation.Exhibitors wishing to avoid being located next to competitors can indicate this on the contract. Access will be denied to all company representatives and/or booth builders if the company has not fulfilled its financial obligations.

CancellationsIn case of cancellation or reduction of booth space or sponsorship, the contracted amount remains mandatory and non-refundable.

Important NoteAll invoices - without any exception and regardless of company rules - must be paid on the deadline mentioned on the invoices. All contracts are legally binding and payment in full is to be fulfilled, also in case of cancellation and/or reduction of the booth space.By signing the Reservation Contract, companies accept this regulation.In the event of default of payment on the date indicated on the invoice, the client is compelled to pay an interest of 12% per year (1% per commenced month) on the total amount due and a compensation of 10% with a minimum of 500 Euro and this without prior reminder or notice.

In case payment modalities are not fulfilled in time, the organisers reserve the right to cancel the booth space and/or to deny access to company representatives or booth builders of the companies in question.In any event, the amount due - as invoiced - remains to be paid.

Terms & Conditions


• All rates are exclusive of taxes.• All activities organised by companies involving participants in ECTMIH 2017 are to be decided on in consultation with

both the Organising and the Scientific Committees.• The announced participation numbers are always an indication, not a certainty.• The organisers reserve the right to change the exhibition floor plans if necessary.• The application is legally binding on the exhibitor pending its acceptance in writing by the organiser. Reservations which

have been made can be cancelled according to the cancellation policy. Only written cancellations will be accepted.• Sponsoring companies will receive an invoice. All booth reservations and other sponsorship must be paid according to

the above regulations. Construction of the booth at ECTMIH 2017 will only be allowed if complete payment is received by the Congress Secretariat within due time.

• Distribution of drinks and meals must be in compliance with the rules of the FMCCA, which has its own caterer (see Exhibitors’ Technical Manual).

• Liability: in participating in ECTMIH 2017 as a sponsor, companies agree that neither ECTMIH, the Organising Committee nor the Secretariat assume any liability whatsoever. Companies are requested to make their own arrangements in respect of insurance and organisation of their booth.

• In case of “Force Majeure” neither ECTMIH as the organisers, nor MediCongress accept any liability.• The organisers do not, in any manner, endorse any of the company product claims displayed or services provided in

the exhibition during ECTMIH 2017. The information given and the activities organised by companies are under their own full responsibility.

• All sponsors and exhibitors are responsible for complying with all national and international rules and regulations with regard to the code of practice on promotion of medical and pharmaceutical products and devices.

• By reserving a booth or sponsorship through the Reservation Contract, companies agree that they will not make any legal claims against ECTMIH, the Organising Committee, Congress Organisers, MediCongress, the Local Organisers, FMCCA, etc.

• The general rules of the FMCCA are applicable to all sponsorship.

General Guidelines for Satellite Symposia• By signing the reservation contract, companies accept full responsibility for all the aspects of their Satellite Symposia

(content, speakers, finances, set-up, etc.).• The ECTMIH 2017 banner can be used on invitations for these Satellite Symposia only.• Companies have to submit the programme of their Satellite Symposium (overall title, list of speakers and their talks) by

September 1, 2017 at the latest. The overall title (not the full programme) of your Satellite Symposium will be printed in the Final Programme of ECTMIH 2017.
