Founded in 1996 as a producer of Flexible and Rigid Plastic

Packaging Solutions; Ansa Polymer now supplies every island

in the Caribbean Region as well as Guyana and Suriname on

the South American mainland. Ansa Polymer’s Production Facilities

and Offices are located in Arima, east Trinidad.

“Our core activities are Plain and Printed plastic packaging,

including roll-stock and bags, HDPE and PET bottles beer crates,

basins and construction bucket,” Solomon describes, “Our current

production capacity for Film is 3.5 million lbs. per year; Bottling 50

million units per year and Injection Moulding is 7.5 million units per

year.”

Employees“Employees are, naturally, very important to us and we aim to

develop and retain competence and motivation throughout our staff

contingent of two hundred and fifty six professionals,”

To do this Ansa Polymer has invested a great deal of time and

money in their facilities and training to create safe and healthy

working environment for the staff. The aim of this is to maintain our

Number 1 position as the region’s premier plastic packaging solutions

provider.

It is likely that this goal will be achieved since Ansa Polymer is

a part of the region’s foremost conglomerate. Ansa Mcal Ltd is the

parent company of Ansa Polymer, one of the giants of the Caribbean

and based in Port of Spain, Trinidad with business operations spanning

the manufacturing, brewing, insurance, finance, real estate, media,

shipping, trading/ distribution, automotive and industrial equipment

retailing sectors and has a diverse workforce of approximately six

thousand staff generating annual revenues in excess of TT$5 Billion.

“As a group we focus heavily on human and team development

with an emphasis on culture enhancement. We are also course ISO

9001 accredited.”

CustomersFor any service or solutions

based company the drive to

attract and retain their customers

defines how the company

approaches its business. Ansa

Polymer approaches the safe-

guarding of their customers and

clients in a strategic and tactful

manner which allows them

to develop and enhance the

relationship they share.

“We translate our customer

needs into specific actions via

weekly Marketing, Logistical

and Operational planning focus

meetings,” Solomon explains,

“This allows us to determine our

next series of steps given the

complexities of our business.

In our industry meeting

customer deadlines and quality

expectations are inextricably

linked to customer satisfaction”

Many companies develop

themselves into an entity only

interested on the front dealings,

neglecting the importance of

attitude and approach. They

sell a product/service and

assume the customer will return.

However, today the aftersales

support is the nugget that keeps

the customer returning.

“After sales service is critical

to the value we offer,” Solomon

insists, “We have developed

communication and inter-

company marketing and quality

teams to ensure we keep in step

with the customer from the

concept to solution, not only does this provide us with information

on how to improve via their feedback but also ensures that we can

maintain a reputation for quality products and quality service.”

The CompetitionOne thing is certain; today’s market place has created an

environment suited to the fiercest competition. For a business to

remain marketable and successful, and to ensure longevity, they must

stay competitive in every area of operation.

“We have a number of strategies in place to keep us ahead of

the competition that cover a wide range of areas,” Solomon explains,

“For example we have invested substantially into plant machinery to

offer higher quality products, improve our price points and reduce

lead times. You cannot produce the best without the best equipment,

people and processes”

New Developments For 2013/2014The investment in machinery to keep ahead of the competition

is definitely one of the driving factors for Ansa Polymer leading into

the future and has a significant knock on effect including enhanced

employee training and future

career developments. As product

quality continues to increase

so too will the reputation of the

business thereby, increasing

customer draw and the need to

employ more trained staff with

opportunities to develop their

lives.

“We’re continuing the

investment upgrade in the Film

Division, sweeping a general

upgrade of company facilities

and complete the upgrade of

the Blow Moulding Division,” he

explains, “This project included

months of financial, market

and operational research

to determine best in class

equipment and technology. We

believe if we are to be the best

in class then we must develop on

the most modern technological

platform in combination with

world class employees. This we

believe will lead to increased

market-share and mind-share of

our customers and enhance our

market leadership.”
