COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS MALAYSIAINNOVATION AWARD

The above award is a recognition by the College of Physician of one of its member who has managed to innovate or make changes in the delivery of medical care that had significant benefit to his or her patients or to the community. Examples of ‘benefit’ could be any of the following: better clinical outcomes, shorter waiting time, cost saving, more efficient bed usage, less hospital acquired infection, better community involvement etc.

1. The award will be offered annually at the Scientific Conference of the College

2. There can be more than one awardee per year as long as the persons meet the criteria.

3. It may be awarded to a team. At least one of the team members must be a member.

4. Any member can nominate his or her fellow members to be given the award. There should be a write-up of not more than 500 words to explain the reasons for the nomination. All nominees and nominators should be registered as delegates for the annual scientific conference.

5. The choice of the successful recipient would be decided by the current council of the College.

6. The award will be presented at the annual scientific conference of the College. A citation would be read prior to the award by the nominator.

Criteria that must be fulfilled:

1. The nominator and nominee must be current members. If it is given posthumously, then he or she must have been an active member at the time of the innovation in question.

2. The benefit of the innovation or change need to be measurable.
