ANNUAL REPORT 2017-18
The All India Shri Shivaji Memorial Society’s, College of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Pune -
411005 was established in the year 1997. At present it conducts the following courses:
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Hotel Management & Catering Technology (B.H.M.C.T.) – a four year Course
2. Bachelor’s Degree in Science – Hospitality Studies (B. Sc. - H. S.) – a three year course.
3. Masters in Hotel Management and Catering Technology (MHMCT)- a two year post graduate course
4. Certificate Courses is Food Production and Bakery & Confectionery
We are pleased to present the Annual Report for the Academic year 2017-18. Like every year, the college has
worked towards achieving excellence in academics as well as in other activities, focusing on the holistic
development of students and the faculty.

2. STUDENTS’ ACHIEVEMENTS
2.1 Participation in Intercollegiate competitions:
Students participated in various National and State level Hospitality Competitions. The details are as
mentioned below:
In Atithya 2018 the team won one competition. In Sinhagad Karandak, Students won five competitions
and they were in runner up position for two. In National level Chandiwala Ensemble 2018, New Delhi,
Students won one competition and secured two 1st runners up trophies and one 2nd runner up trophy. In
National Level Chef Competition held by Christ University, Bengaluru, students bagged 1st runner up
position in one competition Students also participated in National Budding Chef Competition organized
by Auro University, Surat and were runners up in bartending competiton.
Students also participated in various intercollegiate sports competitions.

4. STUDENTS’ DEVELOPMENT:
4.1 Field Visits: Various field visits were organized during the academic year 2017-18 which includes, Deep
Art gallery, ABC Cheese factory, Laundry visit in Hotel Novotel, Brewery Visit to 1st Brew House, Food
Hall in Phoenix market city, Seasons apartment Hotel and Hotel Conrad for familiarization, Industrial
kitchen in Mega Meals, Magarpatta city, Conrad Hotel to learn restaurant softwares etc. for the
respective classes.
4.2 Atithya 2018 – A Reflection of Hospitality
The Tenth/Eighth year of Atithya National Hospitality competitions witnessed overwhelming participation of
30 teams from across India. During the three days event from 3rd to 5th February 2018, in all 12 competitions
were held. The event was flagged off by an Awards Function and Gala Dinner. The award function was
graced by the presence of Shri Shahu Chhatrapati, Kolhapur , Mr. Bakhtiar K.Dadabhoy,DRM, C.Rly ,Pune
and the office bearers of AISSM society. More than 550 guests enjoyed the Anglo-Indian cuisine buffet along
with cultural performances by the students.
4.3 Formal Lunches: were organized by the final year student, which enhanced their entrepreneurial skills
and was patronized by the internal staff as well as outside guests.
4.4 Following activities were organized under the NSS banner
Blood Donation camp by AFMC, Pune, Medical Camp, Tree Plantation Drive, Gandhi Jayanti Celebration,
Vallabhbhai Patel punyatithi, Voters registration drive, National Integration Day, “Marathi Bhasha Gaurav
Din”, NSS camp at Khubavli, Day, International Yoga Day, Swach Bharat Abhiyan, Sadbhavana Divas
4.5 Sports Week & Annual Sports Day
Like every year, sports week was organized in the last week of February and it was followed by Annual sports
day on 23rd February, 2017. Various indoor and outdoor games were organized and students participated
enthusiastically. Chess, Carom, Football, Cricket, Basketball, Throw ball and kabaddi were some of the
competitions organized during the event.
4.6Workshops: Demonstrations and workshops were conducted for, Specialty Indian desserts, Cake Icings,
Flower arrangement etc. for the respective classes.
4.7Short courses- Cookery and Bakery
The college conducted Short term courses in Cookery, Bakery and Advanced Bakery from 4th May to 19th
June 2015. In all there were 74 attendees for all the courses. The fees for the Cookery short course and
Advanced bakery course was Rs. 5000/- and Bakery course was Rs.4000/-.
4.8 Guest Lectures: Guest lectures were organized on Gender Sensitization, Organ donation,Yield
Management,Services marketing,Restaurant Palnning,Hospitality Attributes and etiquettes for front line
personnel, Entrepreneurship prospects in bakery, Entrepreneurship development, CV writing, Essentials of
continental cuisine, Importance of budgeting ,Revenue management, Guest room designing, convenience
food, Importance of interior designing in hospitality industry, F & B controls, Role of guest relations in hotels

,disaster management, Professional attributes required in kitchen, Night audit, Restaurant planning, Attributes
of front line staff, Night Audit, Sales and marketing, Restaurant planning etc. for the respective classes.

2.1 Participation in Intercollegiate competitions:
Students participated in various National and State level Hospitality Competitions. The details are
as mentioned below:
Nestle Student Chef – IHM Dadar, Mumbai, - Winner on one competition.
In National level Chandiwala Ensemble 2018, New Delhi, - Winner in one and runner up in two
competitions.
In National Level Chef Competition held by Christ University, Bengaluru, - Winner in one and
runner up in one competition.
Chef Competition organized by Auro University, Surat – Winner in one and runner up in one
competition.
Catefete 2019 organised by Army Institute Bengaluru, - Winner in Two an Runner up in three
competitions.
Students also participated in various intercollegiate Pune Zonal Sports Competitions.

4. STUDENTS’ DEVELOPMENT:
4.1 Field Visits: Various field visits were organized during the academic year 2018-19 which includes,
Sheraton Grand Hotel, Cummins India, Crown Plaza, Shivaji Market, SPPU Botanical garden and Nursery,
Independence Brewery, Marine Drive Restaurant, Industrial kitchen in Mega Meals, Piatto Dessert Studio and
Café, Hotel e-square, Heritage Hotel Fort Jadhavgad, Hotel Conrad, Novotel, @Home Furniture’s and
Fixtures.
4.2 Atithya 2019 – A Reflection of Hospitality
The Eleventh Edition of Atithya International Hospitality competitions witnessed overwhelming participation
of 29 teams across India (28 Domestic Teams and 01 International Team). During the three days event
from 6th to 8th February 2019, in all 12 competitions were held. The event was flagged off by an Awards
Function and Gala Dinner. The award function was graced by the presence of Shri Shahu Chhatrapati,
Kolhapur, Mr. Nasir Shaikh, General Manager, Westin Pune, and Mr. R.K Padmanabhan, Pimpri-
Chinchwad police commissioner, and the office bearers of AISSM society. More than 650 guests enjoyed
the Global Desi Cuisine buffet along with cultural performances by the students.
4.3 Formal Lunches and Theme Dinners: were organized by the final year student, which enhanced their
entrepreneurial skills and was patronized by the internal staff as well as outside guests.
4.4 Following activities were organized under the NSS banner
N.S.S camp at Kudalewadi Mulshi (Mahila Aarogya Rally, Guest Lecture on ANIS, Gram Servekshan Rally,
Awareness about Swachhata, Waste Composting, Temple Cleaning, Road Safety Rally), Constitution Day,
Swach Bharat Sarvekshan-2019 and launching of Mahitidoot App, Communal Harmony week, Reading Day
on the occasion of birth anniversary of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, Mahatma Gandhi Birth Anniversary, Visit to
Orphanage at Shreevatsa, SOFOSH, Sasoon Hospital, 24th September NSS Day Celebration and Swachhata
Hich Sewa, Kerala Relief Fund, World tourism day (Zoom 2 Photography Competition), Medical Checkup
camp, Swachta Abhiyaan at Agakhan Palace, No Horn Campaign, Blood Donation Camp, NSS visit to
Recycling and Waste expo 2018, Swachhata Pandharwada Abhiyan along with Swachhata Pledge, Kargil
Vijaydivas Celebration 26th July, Tree plantation drive at SPPU, Hum fit to India fit campaign, Tree plantation
at AISSMS, Hutatma Diwas were some of the other events and days celebrated in the college throughout the
academic year.
4.5 Sports Week & Annual Sports Day

June, 2018. A total of 35 attendees for all the courses. The fees for the Cookery short course and Advanced
bakery course was Rs. 6000/- and Bakery course was Rs.5000/-.
4.8 Guest Lectures: Guest lectures were organized on Professional Counselling by Holistic Healing,
Internship abroad by Career Crafters and Eduvator Overseas, Environmental practices by Sheraton Grand,
Career Opportunities in Bakery and Confectionery by Richie’s Bakery, Sustainability and Conservation of
environment by Protecterra Ecological Foundation, New confectionery trends and skills – a video lecture by
Chef Lalit Kamble, London, Facilities management by John Deer, Importance of F&B Control, Credit control
Measures by Westin Pune, Professionla Attributes in Food Production Dept. by Oberoi Trident Mumbai,
Safety and Security in Hotels by Four points by Sheraton, Basic Functionality of Front Office dept. by
Courtyard chakan, Revenue Management by Conrad Pune etc. for the respective classes.

Nestle Student Chef – Symbiosis School of Culinary Arts, Pune on 6th December 2020 where our
students were winner on one competition.
Nestle Student Chef – Rizvi College, Mumbai on 28th September 2020 – where our students have
participated.
NBCC 2020 Competition organized by Auro University on 20th – 22nd Jan 2020, Surat – Winner in
Thematic Cake, 2nd Prize in Liquid Flavours, 3rd Prize in Vedic Cuisine,3rd prize in Carving Mania.
“Aroma-2019 – A Chef Competition for Hospitality Students” organized by CZ Patel College of
Business & Management, Anand, Gujarat in October 2019 - Our college secured the ‘Champions –
Runner-up’ position
Odyssey Competitions at Christ University Bangalore in February 2020 - Our College secured first
prize in luxury management competition.
Participated in Banarsidas Chandiwala Ensemble from 16th to 18th October 2019 where our
students were winners in 02 competitions, runners up in 01 competition and 2nd runners up in 02
competitions.
Everest better kitchen competition organized by better kitchen magazine sponsored by Everest–
Mumbai on 4th March 2020 where our students have participated.
Students also had participated in various intercollegiate Pune Zonal Sports Competitions.

4. STUDENTS’ DEVELOPMENT:
4.1 Field Visits: Various field visits were organized during the academic year 2019-20 which includes, Mega
Kitchen, Cummins India, Nexus Facility Center, Uber Hospitality Ventures, Brasserie Cinq, J.W. Marriott’s
Pune, Brewery Visit to Independence Brewery, 4 year degree BHMCT – Front Office and Housekeeping
Specialization an international study tour to Singapore. The best rates for flight tickets, backpacker’s hostel,
visa, documentation, insurance, forex – these visits added value to the knowledge base of the students.
Simultaneously getting permissions from the hotels in Singapore to allow us to visit them, property round and
showcase their best practices was done. It was a wonderful study tour with iconic hotel visits like Shangri-La,
Marriott Tang Plaza, Westin, Marina Bay Sands, Raffles and The Fullerton. The use of technology, best
practices of the hotels fascinated the students.
4.2 Atithya 2019 – A Reflection of Hospitality

32 teams across India and overseas (30 Domestic Teams and 01 International Team). During the three
days event from 5th to 7th February 2020, in all 12 competitions were held. The event ended with an Awards
Function and Gala Dinner. The award function was graced by Shri Malojiraje Chhatrapati, Kolhapur, Mr.
Girish Sehgal, General Manager, J. W. Marriott Pune, PHA Members and the office bearers of AISSM
Society, Pune More than 650 guests enjoyed the High Stakes Theme and buffet dinner along with cultural
performances by the students.

of Jilha Parishad School , Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, No Honking Day, No Tobacco Day, Celebrating of
Voting Day, Marathi bhasha din, Celebrating of Voting Day, Wetland Day, Cyber Security Guest lecture,
Guest lecture on blood cancer and benefits of stem cells, International Women's Day. Distribution of Mask
during COVID 19 pandemic in Pune city, Contribution to PM relief fund for COVID 19 pandemic were some
of the other events and days celebrated in the college throughout the academic year.
4.5 Sports Week & Annual Sports Day
Like every year, sports week was organized on 11.02.2019 to 21.02.2020 and it was followed by Annual sports
day on 22nd February, 2020. Various indoor and outdoor games were organized and students participated
enthusiastically. Chess, Carom, Football, Cricket, Basketball, Throw ball and kabaddi were some of the

competitions organized during the event. Students participated in various sports events like Football Shahu
Trophy & Shivaji Trophy Cricket organized by COE, PHAPL Cricket. Mehek Bhatia student of FY BSCHS
won silver medal in IND. KATA in 2nd Karate Legend Cup 2020 organized by Traditional Shotokan Karate
Association of India.
4.6 Workshops: Demonstrations and workshops were conducted for – Chocolate making, Cake Decoration,
Plating Techniques, Flower arrangement, Oral Communication Skills, Cold Cuts and Molecular Gastronomy
etc. for the respective classes.
4.7 Short courses- Cookery and Bakery
The college as every year conducted the Short term courses in Cookery, Bakery and Advanced Bakery from
15th April to 31st May 2019 total 63 participants were enrolled and enhance their skills from these short
courses.
4.8 Guest Lectures: Guest lectures were organized on Waste management, Career Opportunities in Rooms
Division, Current HR trends in Hotels, Awareness about Cyber-Crime, and Career opportunities in different
sectors of hospitality industry

03 Faculty members had attended and got a certificate for completion of Level 1 WSET Wine Training
Program examination.
Faculty Development and Training to study the best practices of the hotel, faculty of AISSMS
CHMCT visit to Le Meridian Mahabaleshwar.
Participated in International Beverage workshop on Wine and Spirits.
Training for the non-teaching staff of other AISSMS institutes from 04.12.2019 to 06.12.2019 on basic
service of food and snacks.
