The Promise of Spring at the moment is still pretty much a promise. We, seemingly, in Indianapo-
lis have had more snow this spring that we did all winter! In just a few days we will be gathering at Indianapolis Westside for our District Assembly. Sunday
evening April 29th we will be having our big rally service at 5:00PM It will be a wonderful evening
of music, inspiration, information and the District Superintendent’s report. We will gather Mon-
day morning at 8:30AM and the day will culminate with our ordination service at 7:00PM.
We are excited about Dr. and Mrs. Eugénio Duarte being with us. Dr. Duarte is a wonderful godly
leader and you will want to make sure to be a part of District Assembly 2018. June will be youth camps as well as our District Camp meeting at Indy First, June 18 through 28 th.
Rev. Susie Shellenberger and Vance and Jeannie Sharpe will be our music evangelists. July will
be our Children’s Camps. We plan these events for many reasons, but one is that we will be able to someday reflect and
remember as the Psalmist did: “I will remember the works of the LORD: surely I will remember thy
wonders of old.” To live positively into the future we must stop and take stock of the goodness
and grace of our Lord. I trust as the weather warms up you will be able to get out and about and participate in activities
that you and your family truly enjoy rest and renewal.

Challenge from the Chair. . .
The District SDMI Convention may be history by the time you read this. Hopefully, every church enjoyed a great year this past church year. The good news is, we now have a clean slate and we’re into a new year! The Bible is clear that God wants to do something new in your Sunday School! “Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.” (Isaiah 43:19) Why not consider starting a new class or two this new year? What about a new ministry such as monthly block parties or ministries for women or men or both? Plan a children’s musical and make it a big combined service on Sunday morning. Use your SDMI Board to think creatively and plan for growth. Remember, we are allowed by our denominational headquarters to have combined services up to four times a year (No Sunday School but the attendance of the one big worship service also counts as your Sunday School attendance.) We can count those in our exten-sion classes in our SDMI attendance as long as you don’t count someone twice. Let’s have a great 2018-19 year in SDMI Ministries be-cause the Lord blesses and because we planned it that way! Whatever you do in your church, it all begins with Sunday School! Congratulations, Scott Robinson. The District SDMI Board has appointed him Men’s Ministries Director!
