He served as Whitworth's 17th president, from 1993 to 2010, after serving as president of Manchester University, in Indiana, from 1986 to 1993. Currently, his work-life consists of speaking, consulting and writing. He serves as board chair of Princeton Theological Seminary, and sits on the boards of the Stewardship Foundation and the Voya Educators Advisory Board. In 2010, a second edition of Robinson's book Leading People from the Middle: The Universal Mission of Mind and Heart was released. In February, 2009, Incarnate Leadership, was published by Zondervan (Harper Collins). Bill is married to Bonnie Robinson, principal organist at the First Presbyterian Church of Spokane. They have three married children and six grandchildren. Bill’s advanced degrees include a Ph.D. from the University of Pittsburgh. Over the course of his career, Bill has received many honors. Most recently, The Council for Christian Colleges & Universities named him the 2015 recipient of the Senator Mark O. Hatfield Leadership Award, CCCU’s highest recognition, extended to individuals wh o exem- plify Christian leadership and integrity in service to others. Keynote Speaker - Bill Robinson, President Emeritus of

Whitworth University

Topic: “Communication & Employee Engagement”

Bill Robinson is President Emeritus of Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. He served as

Whitworth's 17th president, from 1993 to 2010, after serving as president of Manchester University, in

Indiana, from 1986 to 1993. Currently, his work-life consists of speaking, consulting and writing. He

serves as board chair of Princeton Theological Seminary, and sits on the boards of the Stewardship

Foundation and the Voya Educators Advisory Board. In 2010, a second edition of Robinson's book

LEARNING SESSION #2: Deputy Chris Johnston, Crime Prevention Unit, Spokane County Sheriff

Chris Johnston is a Spokane native and a graduate of Mead High School. He has 20 years of experience in the mechanical field as both a technician and manager. Chris acquired 10 years of experience in law enforcement and his current assignment (since 2013) is as a Crime Prevention Deputy for the City of Spokane, Valley. Chris is a board member of the Washington State Crime Prevention Association and his hobbies include cars, motorcycles, playing guitar and his job.

BREAKOUT SESSION #1A: Nick Lasko, FMP — HVAC Automation Controls

Nick Lasko is an HVAC Technician at Avista Corporation with 15 years experience in the commercial HVAC field. He is an NEEC Building Operator Level II and is certified in Siemens, Honeywell, Trane and KVC control systems. His hobbies include spending time with his kids, MOTO GP racing and he is an NRA Pistol Instructor.

BREAKOUT SESSION #1B: Norm McLarin, Providence Holy Family Hospital and Curtis Harris, K&H Facility Services

NFPA Code Compliance & Assessment

Norm McLarin is a Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager (CHFM) with Providence Holy Family Hospital and oversees Facilities as well as Plant Operations, Security, EVS (Janitorial), and Bio Med. Norm implemented the procedures and systems that allowed the hospital to become compliant with Joint Commissions and Dept. of Health standards to maintain licensing. This allowed the hospital to be eligible for Medicare reimbursement which accounts for roughly half of the annual income for the Hospital. Norm was born and raised in Spokane and has 4 kids and 10 grandkids.

Curtis Harris is a Regional Field Supervisor with KHFS in charge of compliance for all of the company’s portfolio, including the licensed & joint commissioned accredited medical properties that KHFS manages for Providence Health Services in Eastern Washington & Montana. Curtis is a graduate with an AA degree from the Spokane Community College HVAC/R program and is a BOC Certified Building Operator II. In addition to IFMA, he is also an active member of WSSHE and ASHE. Curtis served in the Army for six years, including a 15 month tour as a combat engineer in IRAQ. Curtis is married with an 18 month old son and enjoys the outdoors and traveling.

BREAKOUT SESSION #2A: Bryce Lund, Corporate Risk Assessment With a background in client relations and business development, Bryce Lund has an extensive understanding of what is necessary to keep clients and tenants happy and healthy within a commercial structure. Joining the DKI team in July of 2013, Bryce has aided in the growth of DKI into a name synonymous with Commercial Disaster Restoration, putting on educational presentations and CE courses for groups of facilities engineers, property managers, and insurance professionals as well as work on scene and in the field. Experience in the field and behind the desk have provided him with a great understanding of potential pitfalls while navigating through the restorative process, how to overcome these, and maintaining operation and use of the facility when possible. From providing disaster preparation services for clients, to working with clients on the scene of a loss, and all the way through the process to completion, Bryce has assisted clients every step of the way. Risk management and assessment will determine the preparedness of your team and your facility when disaster strikes… ARE YOU READY?

BREAKOUT SESSION #2B: Tom Lienhard, Chief Energy Efficiency Engineer, Avista Utilities

As the Chief Energy Efficiency Engineer for Avista Utilities, Tom is responsible for managing customer energy efficiency projects and supervises a team of energy efficiency engineers. Before coming to Avista in 1996, Tom directed facilities and project management in the healthcare industry. Working as an administrator in the management of large utility accounts for ten years has given Tom a good knowledge of what Avista can do to assist its customers. Tom’s technical background as a mechanical engineer, combined with his personal experience as a facilities manager, allows for superior management of customer needs in metering,

distributed generation and energy utilization. He is certified in commercial (CEA) and residential (BPI) energy auditing and the use of infrared thermography.
