Scholars who come to the U.S. to conductpostdoctoral training often seek help fromthe ASPIRE Program to find funding fortheir research. International postdocs arenot eligible to apply for NIH F32 NRSApostdoctoral fellowships or NSFpostdoctoral fellowships, two major sourcesof funding for US citizens and permanentresidents. Thus, we have compiled thestrategies (linked here) to helpinternational scholars identify funding opportunities to support their training.

CDC’s Laboratory Leadership Service (LLS) Fellowship Program prepares high caliberPhD scientists to become public health laboratory leaders. Through on-the-job service at CDC andother public health laboratories, fellows acquire and apply skills in laboratory quality management,the science of biosafety, and leadership. Learn more here.

The Giovanni Armenise – Harvard Foundation supports basic scientific research atHarvard Medical School and in Italy with several different programs. In particular, the CareerDevelopment Award (“CDA”) is designed to foster young, newly independent researchers, making itpossible for them to join and enhance the Italian scientific community, and to strengthen anddevelop collaborative relationships between Italian scientists and those at Harvard Medical School(HMS) in Boston.
