****************************************************************************** 1) INTRODUCTION ****************************************************************************** Tobidase Doubutsu no Mori (TDnM) was released by Nintendo for Nintendo 3DS in Japan on November 8, 2012. *************** Korean Version *************** Twieonawayo Dongmul-ui Sup (TDS) was released by Nintendo for Nintendo 3DS in Korea on February 7, 2013. ****************************************************************************** 2) TECHNICAL GAMEPLAY ****************************************************************************** Tobidase Doubutsu no Mori (TDnM) was manufactured to play in a Japanese Nintendo 3DS. It cannot function in a non-Japanese 3DS. Twieonawayo Dongmul-ui Sup (TDS) was manufactured to play in a Korean Nintendo 3DS. It cannot function in a non-Korean 3DS. ****************************************************************************** 3) LANGUAGE

****************************************************************************** This game uses the Japanese language and has little use of English. Written Japanese makes use of three main systems: kanji, hiragana, and katakana. Kanji refers to Chinese characters used in written Japanese. School children are taught the 1,945 regular kanji (identified by a 1981 governmental decree) used in "official" communications (there are thousands of other kanji in use). Hiragana, meaning "ordinary syllabic script," consists of 48 syllables. It is mainly used to write word endings, but is widely used in materials for children. Hiragana symbols appear flowing or "feminine." Katakana, meaning "part (of kanji) syllabic script," also consists of 48 syllables. It has various uses, including foreign words and emphasis (like bold or italics in English). Katakana symbols appear angular or "masculine." Tobidase Doubutsu no Mori uses furigana. Furigana is small hiragana printed above kanji to show the pronunciation. Romaji refers to the system where written Japanese is represented by the Latin (or English) alphabet. This guide uses romaji versions of Japanese names used in the game. The corresponding Animal Crossing: City Folk names are included in brackets. The author apologizes for mistakes in translation. *************** Korean Version *************** Twieonawayo Dongmul-ui Sup uses the Korean language and has little use of English. Written Korean makes use of two main systems: hanja and hangeul. Hanja refers to Chinese characters used in written Korean. School children are expected to learn approximately 1,800 hanja by the end of high school. Most modern Korean writing, including all Korean text in this game, consists entirely of hangeul. Hangeul consists of 24 letters: 14 consonants plus 10 vowels. The letters are combined to form syllable "blocks," which are combined to form words. The romanization system (i.e., how Korean words are transliterated to the Latin alphabet) of the Korean language was officially revised by the Republic of Korea in 2000. This guide uses the revised romanization system (in braces) to represent Korean words and names used in the game. The author uses a hyphen to represent ieung (the "circle" letter) when it has no sound (typically used in syllables that begin with a vowel). The author apologizes for mistakes in translation. ****************************************************************************** 4) KEYBOARD ****************************************************************************** The default keyboard displays hiragana. Press "(katakana) kana," in the lower left corner, to find katakana. Similarly, press "(hiragana) kana," in the lower left corner, to return to hiragana. The upper right key is the backspace/delete key. The key below the hyphen is the space key. Use the +Control to move the cursor to a different line.

The dakuten and handakuten diacritical marks are in the upper left corner. They "light up" when you have the option to add them to your text. Press the third key (when it's "lit up") to produce small kana for "a," "i," "u," "e," "o," "tsu," "ya," "yu," or "yo." Click the "ABC" key in the lower left corner to find the Latin alphabet keyboard. It offers the option of entering romaji that automatically converts to kana! Using the keys in the lower right corner, press "(hiragana) kana" or "(katakana) kana," to convert to hiragana or katakana, respectively. To end conversion, press the key to the left, "(kanji) ei." Clicking the "(hiragana) a i u" key, in the middle on the bottom, returns you to the hiragana keyboard. Clicking the next key to the right brings up nine pages of symbols, including Greek and Cyrillic letters. Finally, clicking the bottom right key, "(katakana) ketai" changes text entry to mimic a telephone-number-key-entry-type system. *************** Korean Version *************** The default keyboard displays hangeul. Consonants are on the left, and vowels are toward the right. The entry of hangeul automatically forms syllable blocks! Click the key to the right of the Space key, "(hangeul) -yeong," to find the Latin alphabet keyboard. Press the next key to the right, "(hangeul) han," to return to the hangeul keyboard. Click the bottom right key to find nine pages of symbols, including Greek and Cyrillic letters. ****************************************************************************** 5) GETTING STARTED ****************************************************************************** If you haven't created a village, the game opens showing a random town with the camera usually following a villager. From here, you can do almost anything in your town. You cannot save, yet. Go to the [Town Hall] Yakuba and speak to [Isabelle] Shizue {Yeo-ul}. Go Back ****************************************************************************** 12) HOUSE UPGRADES ****************************************************************************** Each of the (up to four) players in town has their own house. Initially, you must speak to [Tom Nook] Tanukichi {Neogul} to make your down payment. Later, you make payments on your loans at the [ABD] ATM in the [Post Office] Yuubinkyoku. After you finish a particular mortgage, you must speak to [Tom Nook] Tanukichi {Neogul} to initiate any additional building/expansions to your home. Also, on a day when a home expansion appears, you must speak to [Tom Nook] Tanukichi {Neogul} in order to make the loan payment option appear at the [ABD] ATM. Your debts to [Tom Nook] Tanukichi {Neogul} are as follows: 1) 10,000 bells for your tent (4x4) (the down payment) 2) 39,800 bells for your starter house (4x4) 3) 98,000 bells for the first expansion (to 6x6) 4) 198,000 bells for the second expansion (to 8x8) 5) 298,000 bells for the upstairs room (4x4) After completing the 298,000-bell mortgage, [Tom Nook] Tanukichi {Neogul} offers you the choice of the following: 6) 348,000 bells for a room on the left (4x4) 7) 348,000 bells for a room on the right (4x4) 8) 348,000 bells for a room in the back (4x4) 9) 428,000 bells for a basement (4x4) 10) 498,000 bells for widening the upstairs room (to 6x6) You can do all five of the above expansions, in any order. Here are the mortgages for further expansions: 11) 12) 13) 14) 15) 16) 17) 18) 19) 498,000 498,000 498,000 498,000 598,000 598,000 598,000 598,000 598,000 bells bells bells bells bells bells bells bells bells to to to to to to to to to widen widen widen widen widen widen widen widen widen the the the the the the the the the left room (to 6x6) right room (to 6x6) back room (to 6x6) basement (to 6x6) upstairs room (to 8x8) left room (to 8x8) right room (to 8x8) back room (to 8x8) basement (to 8x8)

So, that's 19 loans totaling 7,595,800 bells for a wholly-owned, finished mansion.

When you first enter your tent, [Isabelle] Shizue {Yeo-ul} stops by to give you a Lantern. When [Tom Nook] Tanukichi {Neogul} asks what roof color you want for your starter house, he offers four colors in the order of red, blue, yellow, and green. Completing the 10,000-bell down payment will trigger the [Happy Room Academy] Happy Home Academy. When you first enter your starter house, [Isabelle] Shizue {Yeo-ul} stops by to give you [???] nikukyuu na kabegami or Paw Wallpaper and to enable your indoor light switch. Completing payment of the 39,800-bell loan will trigger access to Resort Island. The furniture item limit for each room seems to be 48 items, including items that can hang on the wall. The following items, however, don't "count" toward the room item limit: ...wallpaper ...carpeting ...stationery ...tools ...fruit (single, not baskets) ...mushrooms ...Turnips ...Candy ...unidentified fossils ...Pitfall Seeds ...garbage ...gems ...medicine ...paper bags (e.g., pinwheels, ice cream, saplings) ...Wrapped Presents (using Wrapping Paper) ...fortune slips ...many miscellaneous items (e.g., eggs, foil, ingredients, Coffee Beans) ****************************************************************************** 13) HOUSE EXTERIOR REFORMS ****************************************************************************** At [Nook's Homes] Tanuki Housing, you can purchase reforms to the exterior of your house. You can buy new pavements, roofs, outer walls, fencing, mailboxes, square doors, rounded doors, and overall architecture. You can buy reforms as soon as you have a house. Exterior reforms cannot happen at the same time that your house is upgrading. In order to change the overall architecture of your house, you must have a left room and a right room. (It seems the back room and basement are not necessary.) The price of the architectural change must be paid all at once. Here are their names, their prices, their [???] Interior Themes, and any additional information: Pavements (9) ------------[???] aoi renga no shikiishi or Blue Brick Pavement - 2,800 - none [???] arai ishidatami or Rough Stone Paving - 2,800 - none

Parkers will pay you more than either [Timmy] Mamekichi {Kongdol-i} or [Tommy] Tsubukichi {Bamdol-i}. Here are the author's recommendations for making money: *************** Sell Sea Shells *************** For starters, this is the easiest way to get some funds to buy useful tools. Head for the beach(es) and pick up sea shells (using the "Y" button) along the shore. There will probably be enough to fill your pockets/inventory. Here is the list of sea shells and the amount of bells you can get when you sell at R. Parkers: ...[Pearl Oyster] akoyagai no kaigara - 1,200 ...[Scallop] hotategai no kaigara - 600 ...[???] oisuta no kaigara or Oyster Shell - 450 ...[White Scallop] shakogai no kaigara - 450 ...[Conch] horagai no kaigara - 350 ...[Venus Comb] honegai no kaigara - 300 ...[Coral] sango - 250 ...[Dall's Top] ebisugai no kaigara - 90 ...[Sand Dollar] sando dara - 60 ...[Porceletta] takaragai no kaigara - 30 *************** Sell Flowers *************** Also for starters, pick up the flowers around your town and sell them. Fruit will reappear on the tree three days later. Every town starts with one kind of fruit. This native fruit will be one of Apples, Cherries, Oranges, Peaches, or Pears. Native fruit will sell at R.
