Swachhata Report

Govt. of India seeks to improve the quality of life of the common people by launching an important flagship program on “Swachh Bharat’’ as a mass movement to realize Mahatma Gandhi’s dream of a Clean India. Govt. of India take a initiative aiming at the Swachh Bharat Mission as Swachhta Pakhwada a nationwide campaign with the participation of all sections of the society to bring about mass awareness on cleanliness. There was an appeal made by Govt of India to all the public and private sector mining companies to join the effort to make this mission their own by adopting as many villages/ towns as possible in their vicinity so that the goal of a clean India could be achieved. The Swachta Pakhwada was organized from 16th to 30th November, 2020 as part of the Swatchh Bharat Mission that seeks to improve the quantity of life of the common people. The Swatchh Bharat Mission was launched with the challenging goal of achieving Swatchh Bharat by 2nd October, 2020 coinciding with the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. Swachhta Pakhwada, as an institution began in April, 2016 with the challenging goal of achieving Swatchh Bharat by 2nd October, 2020. In our mines aiming comprehensive efforts from everyone to bring cleaner and healthy environment in the mines.

As a responsible citizen, we at Balaji Iron Mine of Anil Khirwal

considering it as our moral duty and had organized a cleanliness Campaign of “Swachh Pakhwada” program from 16th to 30th November, 2020 at our Balaji Iron Ore Mines, Chaibasa, District- West Singhbhum, Jharkhand.

S. Ahmed, Foreman- Mr. D. N. Pan, Foreman- Mr. I.V. Mallick and the employees of Balaji Iron Ore Mine emphasized the importance of the mission of “Swachhta Pakhwada” to all the staff-members and hence made them aware about the “Swachh Bharat Mission” mass movement.

All the staff-members took part in the cleanliness drive. Staff members

made the cleanliness program in the Mines with cleaning the hand and legs by soap, Cleaning of Toilets & Bathrooms, Cleaning of dump areas, sanitation work i.e. spraying of the bleaching powder, distribution of the sanitizers & soaps like Dettol & Lifebuoy, creation of awareness program among employees and villagers. Planted trees near the rain water harvesting site.

Change houses to enable employees who perform work involving hazardous substances to change into working clothes at the start of their shift and to wash themselves and change their clothes at the end of their shift;

Facilities to enable employees who perform work involving hazardous substances to wash their hands and faces before eating any meals at work;

Readily available latrine facilities, within a reasonable distance from each working place
