Once again we have put together a strong group of bulls for this

offering that represents our program.

At Matejka Farms, we are very proud of our cow herd, 200 head of

Black & Red Angus as well as Herefords, only the good ones get to stay

and they work hard for us, they are the backbone of our business. We

feel it is important to have a low maintenance cowherd that can produce

calves that weigh up with minimal inputs and labour. Our bulls are on

fed a high roughage and light grain ration, they are kept in a large pen

First off, let me describe Commander, perfect dark red color pattern, polled, good hair coat, deep through the heart girth, excellent disposition all travelling on large red feet. This calf stands right along side any of the horned calves in our pen. We purchased the Crackerjack X Beautiful Day embryos from Jason Bruketta a couple of years ago, hoping for a calf like this. Lee and I bought those embryos to possess the genetics of Beautiful Day. I can’t imagine a broodier cow than her. A heifer calf owned by Robb Farms sold this fall for an amazing $19,000. This bull is a hairy, thick, small framed fellow. He’s very dark red in color. His dam is also that color and in January gave us a polled Bellringer daughter. Whistler is also one of the new bulls in our A.I. program. We’ve always been impressed with his bulls and heifers. We are very impressed with his heifers especially. They are very broody. Jenkins is probably one of the best Fullblood bulls we’ve ever used. There’s not many bulls out there that will give both good heifers and bulls. Jenkins does both. At last years sale the Bellringer bulls were very well received. This year we again have two really good sons of his on offer. Both have super dispositions and excellent performance. This past fall Stillwater Simmentals sold a bred heifer by “Ringer” for $3100. Congrats Allan. For anyone who relies on EPD’s, look at “Ringers” CE and BW EPD’s. A positive 11.5 for calving ease and a negative 4.6 for birth weight means his sons should calve easy. With 30 calves registered his average BW on both heifers & bulls is 82 lbs.
