Lt. Governor visits Katchal & Car Nicobar Islands

Car Nicobar, Oct 27: The Lt. Governor, A&N Islands, Admiral

D. K. Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd.) today visited Katchal and Car Nicobar Islands. He was accompanied by the

Secretary to Lt. Governor, Dr. Ajay Kumar Singla and

Superintending Engineer (APWD), Shri Tej Bahadur.

At Katchal, the Lt. Governor visited PHC Katchal and interacted with the patients and the medical staff. He then proceeded to

Heads of Offices. The Katchal Settlers Association met the Lt.

Governor and put forth their long pending demand of issuance of Islander Identity Cards.

On reaching Car Nicobar, the Lt. Governor visited Tsunami

Memorial and paid homage to the departed souls. Thereafter, the Lt.

Governor visited Mus Church and laid wreath on the grave of Late Bishop John Richardson. He then visited Mus Jetty and inspected the

site of sea wall construction and dredging area.

The Lt. Governor also held meeting with the Tribal Council

leaders and local Heads of Offices in the Conference Hall of EOC. The Deputy Commissioner, Nicobar District, Shri Awanish Kumar

welcomed the Lt. Governor and requested the Tribal Council leaders

to present their demands.

The Secretary Tribal Council, Shri Martin Luther highlighted issues like construction of Sea Wall at Mus, poor BSNL connectivity,

posting of Gynecologist, posting of CDPO, installation of incinerator

at BJR Hospital, Car Nicobar etc. The issue of poor shipping service and reinstatement of chartered flight service was also highlighted.

The Lt. Governor assured to look into the issues and resolve them

as soon as possible.

Aesthetica Asia- 2017 conference gets underway

Port Blair, Oct 27: For the first time in A&N Islands, an

international conference on ‘Aesthetic Medicine and allied Sciences’ - the 2nd Aesthetica Asia- 2017 is being held. The Chief Secretary, A&N

Administration, Shri Anindo Majumdar inaugurated the three day

conference in the DBRAIT Auditorium here this morning. The Eastern India Cosmetic Dermatology Research Academy (EICDRA), Kolkata in

collaboration with Directorate of Health Services and ANIIMS, A&N Administration, is organizing the conference which will continue till Oct.

Addressing the gathering including the delegates who have come from different parts of India and abroad; the Chief Secretary expressed

happiness over the conduct of the event and said these Islands are ideal location for organizing such international level conference. Conduct of the

conference will herald a new chapter not only in the medical field but in the other related fields too, the Chief Secretary said.

Referring that in this new era people want to look better and

younger, the Chief Secretary said many people are need of treatment for

scars, hair losses, patches, ageing skin; and the professional in the field of cosmetic dermatology help them look and feel better.

Pointing that aesthetic dermatology has developed leaps and

bounds in recent times, the Chief Secretary said, there are many specialist doctors in this field in this new era. The conduct of the second

International level conference reflect that aesthetic dermatology is catching up, the Chief Secretary said adding that conduct of the

conference in Isles will enable the doctors at GB Pant Hospital and the faculties of ANIIMS to know more about the advancements taking place

in this field.

The Chief Secretary also released a souvenir brought out as part of the 2nd Aesthetica Asia -2017 International conference on ‘Aesthetic

Medicine and allied Sciences’.

The Director ANIIMS, Dr. R. P. Choubey, and the DHS, Dr. (Smt),

Shipra Paul also addressed the gathering.

Welcoming the chief guest and others, the President EICDRA, Prof. R. N. Dutta said, this conference is being organized with an aim to

familiarize the Islanders and the doctors about aesthetic dermatology which deals in repair of the skin to make the person look better. He also

described A&N Islands as one of the most sought after tourist destination.

He also expressed gratitude to the Administration, DHS, ANIIMS and

DBRAIT for the support extended towards conducting this conference.

The inaugural session concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Dr. R. K. Halder, Dermatologist, G .B Pant Hospital.

CS launches SRM for all private aided/unaided/local body schools

Port Blair, Oct 27: In an attempt to simplify and improve the

delivery of services, the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration Shri

Anindo Majumdar launched the School Recognition Module (SRM) for all private aided/unaided/local body schools during a function held in

the Mini Conference Hall of Secretariat today. Speaking on the occasion the Chief Secretary stressed upon the importance of

transparency and timely delivery of services. He also lauded the efforts

made by the Department of Education in this regard.

The Secretary (Education), Ms Tanvi Garg, Deputy Director Education (Admin) Shri Shubhankar Ghosh and the Spl. Secretary (IT),

A&N Administration Dr. Utpal Sharma were also present on the

occasion.

At the outset, the Secretary (Education) gave a brief outline of the process followed in the SRM for inviting online applications for

school recognition.

Dr. Dheeraj Kumar, Deputy Director Education (Planning) made a

presentation on the advantages / benefits of School Recognition Module over the existing manual system. The System is also integrated

with SMS service for sending SMS alerts on application status

(Approval/Rejection) to applicants.

The SRM has been designed and developed by DBRAIT with the inputs provided by the Directorate of Education.

Power suspension

Power supply will remain suspended in few areas on

28.10.2017 (Saturday) from 0800 hours to 1200 hours for

expansion of Low Tension Line at Old Pahargaon. The time mentioned in the schedule is tentative, which may be changed,

subject to completion of work.

The areas to be affected by power interruption are Old

Pahargoan, part of Dollygunj near ATR Road.
