Ellie Goulding - Lights

• The artist is shown at the very forefront of the advertisement, this is conventional for the genre because with pop the artist image is very important.

• The artist name is boldest in the middle of the page because it is the most important detail, this gives her a very striking image because it is very independent in the middle of the page. This is something we could think about doing with our advertisement and also CD cover because if we do a pop artist then the image will also be very striking.

• The album name ‘Lights’ is also highlighted by the illustration of sparkly lights around her hair because it all links to the name of the album, this gives the artist a very mystical and free image because of all the lights around her as if it is a halo.

• The reviews of the album are conventional as they give us a good idea of how the album has been received and this may cause people to want to buy the album more.

• The colours all link together here and this works well in keeping the album from appearing tacky and it also links it all together, giving the artist a modern image.

Jessie J – Who You Are

• Jessie J here is presented very boldly at the centre of the image, this gives us the impression that she is a very independent artists and that her songs are very powerful and in your face.

• The colours used here match well and look very modern, using the same colours is a good idea for my group and would be beneficial in creating a bold image for our artists. Black and gold look very striking layered on top of each other, lots of artists use contrasting colours like this to make a statement and stand out from the rest.

• The golden title is very loud and tells us that the artist has a very ballsy image because often gold is very showy and connotes the idea of wealth and fame, this could be the idea she is trying to convey with her image.

• The album name is shown here which is conventional and also stands out as its very central on the page, the website is a good addition because it may attract curious people to listen to her music and see what her style is.

• The inclusion of the supporting artist ‘B.o.B’ could attract his fans to listen to her music and may pull in more sales.

Marina and the Diamonds – The Family Jewels• Artist Image is shown through the styling of the artist as

she is shown giving a provocative look at the camera to hopefully appeal to the male audience. The vintage sort of feeling is shown through the use of an old floral carpet background and also the filters used drags out some of the colour which makes it look even more aged, this could be trying to evoke the idea that she is a more classy artist. It also gives the idea that she may have a more old style to her music.

• The font of the title is very feminine and the colour of it tells us that the music may be aimed at a more female audience rather than a male audience.

• The name of the artist is very bold which is conventional for a pop artist because often the image of a pop artist is more important than the music.

• The advertisement offers alternatives to buying the album which would appeal to a younger audience that would be more likely to want to download the song rather than buy a physical copy of it.

• From this cover you get a full look at who it is by which is good because it’s a recognizable artist.

• The single is offered as an accompaniment to the album because this will attract more people who are fans of her to buy the album.

• Giving us two images of her gives us a better feel of what the album might be like as they have a very feminine image so it may include lots of powerful songs about female issues.
