An underground parking garage is being built in the city center

After the complete renovation of the Dósa nádor square, it was handed over to pedestrians only. Vehicles have been banned from the area, and parking is limited. 

Instead of the closed parking lots, the municipality of Debrecen announced the wish to build an underground garage on Sas Street near to the square with the help of EU funding. Now, they announced the public procurement for the construction work.

According to the specifics of the call to tender, the object of the investment is the construction of a four-story underground garage with an area of 2,927 square meters and a useful floor area of 6,971 square meters, providing a total of 207 parking spaces.

The underground garage is set up below ground level at a depth of 12 meters.

According to the public procurement, special attention must be paid to preserving the building of the neighboring Old Town Hall during the entire construction, as the wing of the building on Sas Street is under monument protection. The building of the Old Town Hall will also be renovated, and the public procurement has already been announced for that work.

Companies could apply for the construction of the underground garage until 7th September 2021, and the winner will have 13 months to do the work.
