If you want to read the series, you should read it in order because each book starts with the last sentence from the first book. Luke Garner and Jen Talbot are in a society where having more than two children is illegal. The story is told in third person as it is happening. The boy named Luke thinks he is the only third child around until he sees Jen Talbot. He goes to her house to see who she is. Jen attacks Luke until he says that he is a third child, too. They become friends and she tells him about a rally and that she knows about eight-hundred third children. Does Luke go to the rally? With Jen? Why? What will they accomplish by going? Will they get caught? What will happen to the third children? Read Among the Hidden to find out. I recommend that the third child of the family seven and up read the series.
