RPD Finances

• The RPD financial status is excellent– Our balance allowed us to invest $30,000 as our 1st year

contribution to the 2nd RPD endowed (undergraduate) scholarship

– The 2015 projected balance is $38,566 (which considers the $30,000 allocation for the 2nd RPD scholarship, and a $70,750 balance carried over to this year).

– The projected member allocation income is $3,816, based on August 2014 membership statistics.

– We continue to support ANS student conferences and student travel to national meetings at $5,000 annually.

– We invest $1,000 annually in our website development efforts.

RPD Services to Membership

• Blair Bromley (AECL) facilitated and analyzed a Survey of RPD members in 2013 (150 participants, 8% of RPD membership).

• 35 multiple choice questions, with opportunity for comments.

The following are a summary of the survey results:• Cost of attending ANS meetings needs to come down

Aim for $500 early registration fee for ANS members. Identify cities/venues with economical hotels and flights.

• President’s reception should last 2.5 hours.

RPD Services to Membership

• Avoid too many parallel sessions and wasted time slots.

Use 20-minute time slots instead of 25. Run technical sessions until 5 pm (or later in some

special cases). Consolidate smaller technical sessions. Run a Monday evening poster session (6 to 8:30) with

refreshments and cash bar. Distribute sessions/papers evenly throughout week,

including the full use of Thursday afternoon.
