>>>>>>MONTHLY NEWSLETTER: NOVEMBER 2019<<<<<<
Commander-Bob Kiley : To the greatest post in the
world:
It has been months since I have updated the membership on what is
happening at your post. It has been a bit of a rocky road due to so
many items that need to be addressed.
• Security System: The system should be completed and ready in
the next few weeks to protect our volunteers and members.
• New Roof: We are nearing a decision on which contractor to
award the bid. Bids are being submitted to the Executive Board
for consideration and once awarded, we will move forward with
our plans.
• Expansion of post: At this time, we are putting the expansion
plans on hold. We are leaning in the direction of utilizing the
space we have, rather than adding on. This is a continuing work
in progress and recommendations will be made to the member-
ship on what must be done.
• New member initiation: This event was held on October 13th.
The numbers that this post has is quite impressive and like any
organization, new membership is the life blood to keep the roster
growing.
Certain staff members from the Department of Florida attended our
October membership meeting. They were impressed with how the
post operates and gave me some very nice complements.
THANKSGIVING DINNER
This dinner was originally conducted for our vets and/or their spous-
es that may be alone for the holiday season. Tickets went on sale
October 24th and as of this printing, you will need a ticket to attend.
Have a great Thanksgiving Season.
For God and Country.
1st Vice-Commander-Joan Suelter
A special hello to all our new members, since our last newsletter.
Please don’t be a stranger, come in and introduce yourself to our team of volunteers.
October has come to a close, and the holiday season is right around the corner. If you haven’t renewed your membership, this would be the
perfect time in the next coming weeks.
To help assist with that process, starting Tuesday, November 5, 2019, I will be available every Tuesday night through November from 5 pm-
7pm to renew the legion membership cards. Come in, see me, and get your 2020 cards.

FALL IS IN THE AIR, EVEN IN FLORIDA:
As we enter this season, It is truly a time to
give thanks for many things. Our Family, our
friends, our good fortune to be living in a
climate that is temperate, and in a community
populated by so many good people.
Our American Legion Post 347 is another
reason to give thanks.
We are a microcosm of the community that we
live in, offering friendship, community events
and neighborly helpfulness and friendliness.
“This is the day the Lord has made; Let us re-
joice in it and be glad.”-Psalm 118:24
Adjutant’s Den-Mike Seidel
We are well into the renewal year for 2020. The Department of Florida and the National
organization gives us target dates that we are to meet or exceed with paid membership.
As we approach Veterans Day, our proposed target is 65% renewal and we have exceed-
ed that at 66.11% as of October 18th. We have reached that goal due to the hard work of
the 1st Vice Commander and the Membership team. However, that number is a little
skewed due to the fact that we are behind by approximately 37% of our current mem-
bership who have yet renewed for 2020.
I know that is a lot of numbers to digest, but if you have a neighbor or a friend or, if you
have not renewed, please, send your dues in. Or, if you prefer, come on down to the of-
fice. We would love to see you. If Bob Johnson or myself are in the office, we will pro-
cess your renewal while you wait. If not, then we will handle the renewal as soon as we
return.

Thanks to all Legion Family members and other supporters in the Tri-County area for the out-standing support of the monthly ALR 3rd Sunday Kitchen Time - the response to our monthly “Specials” has been outstanding, with our recent Sausage, Peppers & Onions Sandwich selling out regularly - stay tuned for new Specials each month. And now that the Post is showing NFL games again, a regular bar style food menu will be available dur-ing the 3rd Sunday’s early NFL game AND Bar Bingo if it is held in the Main Hall! So come on out
on the 3rd Sundays, from Noon to 4pm, and enjoy some fun food, and NFL game and some Bar Bingo when available! Monthly special menu items will be posted on Lounge TVs and on flyers posted on hallway bulletin boards.
Chapter 347 continues to grow, adding more several new mem-bers in recent months, including 2 new members in our newly creat-ed category of “Support Mem-ber”. Support Members will play an important role in our Chapter as we grow and become more active around the Post and in the community. We encourage every-one in the Legion Family to in-form their friends and neighbors who enjoy motorcycling and may, or may not, be Legion Fam-ily members already to look into joining ALR Chapter 347. It would be a “double win” if they joined the Legion Family and ALR 347!!
For anyone interested in learning more about our Chapter, please join us at our regularly scheduled monthly meetings in the Main Hall of Post 347 on the first Thursday each month at 1830. Our social and networking hour starts at 1730, with a Cash Bar and complimentary pizza. You can also visit our web page at http://www.florida-legion.com/riders
Auxiliary: Madam President –Cathy Trout
Happy 100th Anniversary American Legion Auxiliary. On November
10, 2019 the Auxiliary will be celebrating a momentous day.
Please come to our November 6th monthly meeting at 5:30pm in the
Post Hall and share a piece of cake to celebrate.
There is a lot of opportunity to volunteer with the Auxiliary. One of
our many volunteers is named Betty Spencer. Betty is the Unit’s Sgt-
At-Arms, the Americanism Chairman and volunteers in many areas
of the Legion and the Auxiliary. She helps with Girl State and at-
tends Girl State as a city advisor. Betty also volunteers at the Salva-
tion Army and was honored a year ago with the volunteer of the year.
Thank you, Betty, for all that you do.
The Unit will be doing Thanksgiving baskets again this year for 60
families. We want to thank the other pillars of the American Legion
Family for helping us with this wonderful event.
Welcome back Snowbirds and have a great winter.
