The temperatures are back again and so are the Steak dinners. Please look for the S.A.L.’s first Steak Dinner to begin on Saturday, May the 6th, at our usual time of 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. This will be the 10 oz. N.Y. Strip, baked potato, roll, and full salad bar, at the same price of $12.00 for adults, $5.00 for 17 and under. The band, 2 Ray Street will be entertaining from 8:00 p.m. until 12:00 ish. This will be their first visit to the Carmel Post. They are a well established Carmel band that I am sure you will enjoy. Our next S.A.L. Steak Dinner will be on Saturday, the 3rd of June, 6:00 til 8:00 p.m. That evening for entertainment will be Don Webb and Jamie Sams’ Karaoke… bring your vocal chords, sing along, and have an incredible time.

In correction, in the March/April Newsletter, I said that the election of S.A.L. Officers would be during the May 29th meeting. The meeting date is instead on May 22nd, at our usual time of 7:00 p.m., due to the Memorial Day weekend. Please make a note of it. We will be taking nomination of officers during our April 24th meeting. We currently have a nominating committee canvassing members for their thoughts, in helping determine who they feel is best fitted for the many positions available. We thank all for your support.

Memorial Day is just around the corner, and it is that time of year that we start getting involved with performing Color Guard ceremonies for various events/activities. As always, we are looking for members to assist in flag detail, or rifle detail for these ceremonies. Please feel free to contact either Commander Don Hudson, Post Adjutant Ray Klynott, or myself, if you are interested and available for any of the ceremonies coming up. Currently, we are looking for help with the Memorial Day ceremony, where we visit the grave sites and present a Color Guard.

Most members aren’t aware of how much the Legionnaires assist the S.A.L. in dinner nights, with funding of the enter-tainment, and the incredible service from the bartenders during the evening. Many thanks go out to the Legionnaires for their help. As well, I would like to thank the newly involved S.A.L. members that have helped tremendously in our recent events/functions .

Hello All:

I’m going to keep this short for the sake of space.

We need your attendance to our monthly meetings. Your input is very important. Without your involvement, we would not know what programs you think are important. We need fresh ideas and you might have an innovative idea we would like to try. Meetings are the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m., and last less than an hour. There are only two more meetings until we go dark for the summer, and I would like to see as many members there as possible.

I would like to thank all of the ladies who help at the post. I don’t have room to name everyone, so let me just give a thanks to everyone.

Hope to see you at our next meeting, Sandy Sebastian, Auxiliary President

BE ON THE LOOKOUT… You should be seeing those special, little, red flowers popping up in your mail boxes soon.

Each year on Memorial day The American Legion Post 155 and the VFW Post 10003 perform a memorial ceremony at various cemeteries throughout Hamilton County.

Please come and join in the emotional program ob-served on May 29, 2006.

Memorial Day Remembrance

In Flanders Fields In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row That mark our place . . . and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields. Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch; be yours to hold it high If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields. –Col. John McCrae May is Poppy Month. Please Support our Veterans programs by making a donation to the poppy fund.

We will be visiting the following cemeteries: 9:00 am Hamilton Memorial Park 10:00 am Little Eagle Creek 11:00 am Old Blue at 106th Street Noon Carmel Cemetery 12:35 pm POW-MIA ceremony at VFW Post 10003

From The Chaplain:

Almighty God our Heavenly Father, in Your hands are the living and the dead; we give You thanks for all those, our comrades, who have laid down their lives in service for our country. May they rest in peace, and may light perpetually shine upon them. May the good work of seeking justice for the oppressed and peace for all man-kind be rewarded with success, that their sacri-fices shall not be in vain. And may we never fail to remember the awesome cost of the freedom which we enjoy. All this we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

Jerry Sebastian, Chaplain
