Heart Disease PreventionBy: Brian Rosso, R.D.This month I am writing about

living a heart-healthy lifestyle. I hopeyou find the information below helpfulin your everyday lives.

Visit your doctor on a regularbasis. Monitor your blood pressureand cholesterol levels.

Maintain a healthy weight. Keepyour body mass index (BMI) levelunder 25. BMI levels above 25 areassociated with an increased risk ofdeveloping heart disease. Your BMIlevel is determined by using aformula that includes a person’sweight and height.

Here is a list of heart-healthyfoods: salmon, oatmeal, tuna, carrots, spinach, broccoli, sweetpotatoes, asparagus, oranges, tomatoes, cantaloupe, and tea. All ofthese foods can be found on themenu at American House.

Limit your salt and saturated fatintake. American House offers manyheart-healthy food choices on our

menu; just look for the picture ofthe heart.

Stay active. Try to do some formof physical activity 30 minutesevery day. This is also a great wayto manage stress!

American House offers manyways to live a heart-healthylifestyle.

The customerexclaimed, “I’ll neverbe able to teachhim all of thatby tomorrow!”
