Why are you pursuing an MBA?

In my five years of experience at Deloitte, I developed technical accounting skills and learned to manage large teams and review detailed audit work. However, I have always had a passion for education and have often envisioned a career path that will enable me to combine my passion in education and interest in finance. An MBA seemed a viable avenue for me to learn the skills and develop the tools critical to make such a change.

Why did you choose to come to Kellogg?

I fell in love with Kellogg’s culture during an information session in New York and upon visiting the campus. I like the humility and friendliness of professors, students and staff. The Kellogg curriculum truly embodies the collaborative and experiential learning experience. Kellogg truly equips you with the technical and soft skills needed to succeed in the real world.

What are the activities you are involved in at Kellogg?

Committee member for Day at Kellogg, director of panels and speakers for the Africa Business Club and team member of the Urban Prep Project.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I love to travel — have been to three continents. I have interest in exotic cuisines and love to cook. I enjoy swimming, watching movies, shopping and volunteering.

What’s been your most valuable Kellogg experience so far?

My most valuable Kellogg experience has been interacting with and learning from the diverse and talented Kellogg students and also having the opportunity to learn pertinent business concepts under the tutelage of experienced professors.

What surprised you most about Kellogg?

I am surprised by the amount of both career and academic resources available to students to the extent that sometimes they have become a bit overwhelming.

Why are you pursuing an MBA?

An MBA will help me reach my goal of becoming a brand manager. I can develop general management skills and build a network in the consumer goods industry. I also have a great opportunity to strengthen and practice leadership skills, which will serve me throughout my career.

Why did you choose to come to Kellogg?

I’m passionate about marketing, and Kellogg was the best fit for my career plans. Also, through talking with alumni, I began to feel a strong affinity with the school’s distinctive teamwork culture.

What are the activities you are involved in at Kellogg?

Kellogg Marketing Club, European Business Club, host for visiting prospective students, Improv Club and Public Speaking Club.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I love travelling to explore culinary specialties, learn new languages and experience local cultures.

What’s been your most valuable Kellogg experience so far?

People at Kellogg represent the school’s most valuable asset from the start, in terms of both learning and network building. That includes the entire Kellogg community — fellow students from my KWEST trip and my classes, the faculty and staff, the career coaches and the alumni network.

What surprised you most about Kellogg?

The extraordinary diversity of classes, clubs, employment opportunities and peers. Diversity at Kellogg truly opens up a wide range of opportunities and enables you to get the most out of your experience.

I am determined to enhance my expertise in industry knowledge, marketing and strategy in order to manage a product line and improve its brand, thus ensuring a real impact on the complex process of increasing the customer base in a global market.

Why did you choose to come to Kellogg?

The strong brand of Kellogg, its connection with the top-notch professional world and the quality of its courses are just part of the reason. The people are the actual “tipping point” of my choice. In fact, prior to applying to Kellogg, I had the chance to talk with current students and alumni. I was impressed how these people were down to earth, friendly and available to share their thoughts with me even if they did not know me!

In a few weeks, everyone at Kellogg becomes a strong and valued network of literally hundreds of peers, extremely useful both for the social and the professional life!

What surprised you most about Kellogg?

Kellogg is an actual powerful lever to enhance your growth as a young professional. In fact, the school features high-level academic courses, extra-curricular activities and social events. What surprised you most about Kellogg?

The truth about Kellogg people — the collaboration, comradeship and community among all students and faculty. We truly embrace our differences and make the best out of them by learning from each other. We never say no to helping others, and we always look for ways to create opportunities that benefit all. You see the evidence of that in how students lead all the clubs, activities and initiatives and inspire new students to take over leadership when they leave.

Two-year Program

Nationality: Swiss and German

Intended career path: Return to Bain or pursue a career in private equity

Educational background: Master in physics (semiconductor physics and nanotechnology), Technische Universität München

Professional background: Consultant, Bain & Company

Internship: Dristee, a Delhi-based Indian social enterprise, Kellogg CRTI Fellow

Why are you pursuing an MBA?

Coming from a scientific background, I consider an MBA to be the perfect way to complement my education in physics with the business skills I need for my future career. In addition, I see my MBA as a great opportunity to get to know a lot of interesting people from a diverse range of backgrounds and nationalities.

Why did you choose to come to Kellogg?

In my previous job as a consultant at Bain, I met a lot of Kellogg alums, and these were actually some of the people that I consistently enjoyed working with the most. All of them told me about the great culture and the wonderful time they had at Kellogg, which finally convinced me that this was the place I wanted to go, too.

What are the activities you are involved in at Kellogg?

Besides being an officer in the Arts & Culture Club, I’m also a part of the committee that organizes the annual Kellogg ski trip, where more than 700 Kellogg students ski and party for a week in one of the world’s greatest ski resorts. I also enjoy being a member in the European Business Club and the Consulting Club.

What are your hobbies and interests?

Architecture is one of my main personal interests and, therefore, I’m fond of being so close to Chicago with its awesome architecture. I also enjoy jogging at Lake Michigan (which, with the beaches, feels almost like jogging along a Mediterranean coast) and playing golf in the summer.

What’s been your most valuable Kellogg experience so far?

My KWEST trip to Japan! Kellogg Worldwide Experiences and Service Trips (KWEST) are the trips that second-year students organize for the incoming Kellogg MBA students before classes start. My trip to Japan not only led me to a beautiful and most interesting country, it was also where I met many new friends that I still spend a lot of time with.

What surprised you most about Kellogg?

Pursuing an MBA is a lot of work, probably more than I imagined, but seeing that Kellogg people still find time to take part in all these activities — organizing business conferences, sports events and participating in almost 100 clubs — really was a big surprise.

What surprised you most about Kellogg?

I have been hearing about all the events happening on campus, but there are actually tons of events (company presentations, club events, class information session, etc.) being held on the same day. It is often hard to choose one event over another and scheduling/time-management is definitely the key to making the most of it.

Why are you pursuing an MBA?For several reasons. To increase my knowledge in business administration, especially in marketing and business strategy, to enhance my leadership abilities and to expand my personal and professional network.

Why did you choose to come to Kellogg?

Why are you pursuing an MBA?In the long run, I want to have my own company in the social responsibility area. Moreover, I wanted to have access to a network of colleagues with whom I would be able to learn and exchange ideas and experiences.

Why did you choose to come to Kellogg?

I chose Kellogg because of two factors: people and knowledge. First, I knew I would be able to have access to a broad network of incredibly talented and collaborative colleagues. I have been able to take my previous technical business experience to another level.

What surprised you most about Kellogg?

It is impressive how quickly you meet people and are able to develop enriching relationships with different communities. Even before going to classes, you meet 20 people at your KWEST trip that will suddenly become your best friends. Then you meet 60 people in your section with whom you will spend an intensive CIM week. Then there are the inter-section events, the inter-cultural events and the Kellogg clubs. In two months you feel like half of the school’s students are your close friends. This atmosphere is very unique and is something that I have only seen at Kellogg.
