By Jeff Weinstein on 7/14/2015 Amara Cay Resort, an upscale, boutique resort has reopened in Islamorada, Florida, after a multi-‐million dollar renovation. Now managed by Miami-‐based Trust Hospitality, the 110-‐room resort (88 standard rooms and 22 suites) has completely redesigned guestrooms, public spaces, meeting rooms, landscaping, retail space and restaurant.

Open lobby layout has rustic textures. "We stripped the structure down to its nuts and bolts and rebuilt a distinct and authentic hotel that pays tribute to the property's past while elevating its status locally and nationally in the travel community," said Kara Lundgren, general manager of Amara Cay Resort. "The new resort is a chic, yet discreet destination that offers an authenticity with comforts of local flair." The lobby lounge echoes the historical beauty and charm of Islamorada by combining rustic textures, reclaimed wood and playful papasan chairs.

Conceived as a contemporary re-‐imagination of the classic seaside cottage, Amara Cay Resort's guestrooms and suites feature simple, clean designs and furnishings incorporating natural elements such as wood, rattan and dark tile. The layout and decor establish a guest's sense of ownership and personal space. In keeping with Amara Cay Resort's commitment to sustainability, the new guestrooms incorporate environmentally responsible elements including LED lighting, improved thermostats, upgraded sinks and showers, and impact resistant glass.
Guest rooms were re-‐conceived as the classic seaside cottage.
In addition to the remodeling of the guestrooms, restaurant and lobby, Amara Cay Resort has also added an in-‐house gift shop with themed souvenirs and a dedicated space ideal for small meetings. “The Glass Bowl” meeting room accommodates 60 guests and can be used for meetings or receptions.
Guestrooms incorporate natural elements such as wood, rattan and dark tile. The resort has also partnered with the Coral Restoration Foundation to raise funds for the conservation organization.
