ALZERINA was born to Josepha Gomes, a well-known clothing designer, on the islands of Capo Verde. ALZERINA enjoyed a happy childhood influenced by fashion, design and strong women. Under her mother’s guidance, she quickly learned the skills of her craft. At age 14, ALZERINA created her first clothing collection for prominent artists, musicians, and actors who resided on the islands off the coast of West Africa.

Only a few years later at the age 20, ALZERINA moved to Paris, the fashion capital of France where she began to model. After 8 years in Paris, she headed to New York City where she would leave the world of modeling in order to pursue jewelry design, her true passion. Her career in jewelry modestly began by participating in local trunk shows and designing custom pieces for private clientele. Although known for her jewelry, ALZERINA is also recognized for a line of bejeweled lingerie. Her lingerie, designed especially for the fashionably bold, features bra and panty sets made of thin chains embedded with colorful Swarovski crystals.

Each individually handcrafted piece bears her name because ALZERINA believes that jewelry should become part of the woman who wears it. Through the choice of materials and color combinations, her collections reflect modern aesthetics with traditional el-egance. There is a piece for every woman from simple to sexy to extravagant. ALZERINA takes pride in crafting her designs to make a woman feel glamorous and comfortable at the same time.

ALZERINA has gained a large following in the last few years. Her jewelry has been worn by Tracy Bergman on the set of “The Young and the Restless”, Carol Siva of Chanel 12 News, actress Kathryn Winnick of ‘Bones’, and Rosanna Scotto of Channel 5 News. ALZERINA recently design an exclusive collection for Phoebe Cates for her boutique, Blue Tree, on Madison Avenue. Inspired by her clients’ style and sensibilities, ALZERINA indi-vidually makes each piece with love. Each creation is like a wearable piece of art.
