Noble Ruler Report:This past semester has been very busy for the brothers of the Alpha Upsilon
Chapter. We have experienced several events this past semester. This semester we won out third consecu=ve ropepull =tle and won the overall award for homecoming as well. Also we had our annual Ms. Greek Pageant which was very successful as well. We have also began something which we hope will become a tradi=on for years to come, an ac=ve and alumni workday at the chapter house. . I will admit that this semester has not been without trials, but I am fortunate to serve on an incredible execu=ve council who is highly dedicated to seeing our Fraternity succeed, and we are backed by a strong ac=ve membership who never seFle for “second best.” The trials we have faced have undoubtedly made our bonds of brotherhood stronger and have gone a long way to help us reach that purpose of “making beFer men.” We are very proud to have a strong new ini=ate class of thirteen brothers who are as dedicated to this organiza=on as any older brother could hope to be. We hope that these new brothers will con=nue to grow as men and con=nue to succeed in Alpha Gamma Rho and all their other endeavors. We feel that these new brothers along with the older ones can bring the chapter above and beyond what we have accomplished over the past year.
Alumni, I hope this Crescent finds you and your family doing well. We are so apprecia=ve of the unending support that you show the chapter. We sincerely thank you and know that it is because of you con=nued support that we are able and will con=nue to be able to make beFer men at 225 University Street.
Your Brother, Seth Tennant “931

Mom's Coments:
Greetings from 225 University Street. As the saying goes time flies when you are having fun. We welcomed new initiates to our house this fall. Our prayers are still with Jacob Franklin who was injured in October.
It was great seeing new and old faces during homecoming week. As always our boys participated in all homecoming activities. It makes me proud to say I am mom to great young men. They never let me down.
We had a great work day on November 16. Along with hard work there was a little fun. We had several alums who supervised our work day and provided lunch.
We are looking forward to our annual Thanksgiving meal with the Ag department and Christmas with our children from the community.
Hope everyone has a very happy and merry Christmas.

Membership Development:
Recruitment:
Coming off of an excellent class in the spring, high expectations were set for the incoming class of Fall 2013. These 13 new brothers really stepped up to the plate and have shown a lot of initiative. Out of the thirteen new brothers three of them are colligate sophomores giving the new class better leadership. Since I became an active brother in Alpha Upsilon this has been one of the most goal oriented classes I have seen. They all are really involved in the chapter rather it be in; sports, campus activities, clubs, committees, or just in our brotherhood activities. The initiative of the new class has given me the upmost confidence in the future of Alpha Gamma Rho and Alpha Upsilon.
Fraternally,

Summer recruitment went very well this past year and the many hours put into recruitment really paid off. We initiated 15 new brothers this semester all of which being of high quality. A lot of our success to this new class goes to the whole chapter. I had a lot of help from my Recruitment committee and also help from many alumni. We had 12 houseguests this fall and 3 out-of-house recruits. Coming into this position, I wanted to focus on quality not quantity and I’m confident that we accomplished both. I would like to thank everyone that helped out with recruitment this year from the active chapter and the alumni.

Homecoming 2013:
Pyramid:We started out struggling with pyramid. It seemed like we were not making any progress the first couple of weeks. Then all of a sudden we started landing our pyramids and acing our dance moves. We started working as a class and we learned to trust our brothers. I really think that it brought us close as a class. We did not place this year but we performed very well and gave it our all.

Lip Sync:As far as lip sync goes, it went very good this year. Second place
isn’t the best and really wasn’t what we were shooting for, but it gave us the points to win homecoming and that’s all that matters. Fall 2013 and I came a lot closer by participating in this homecoming activity. It was a whole lot of fun and you found out who could and couldn’t dance, not to mention I would do it again next year if I could. From what everybody in Fall 2013 says, it was a great experience for them, and hey, putting on fake boobs isn’t so bad and the sororities liked it.

Rope Pull:We did it again! Thru all the blood, sweat and, lets be honest, tears AGR has brought home anther Rope Pull Championship. I admit that I was nervous going in to that Lirst pull. AS a Lirst time coach, I didn’t know what to expect, but the guys who had been there before helped me through it. Isn’t that the meaning of Rope Pull in itself? A team coming together and working through any adversity that stands in their way. I guess that’s why I love it so much. Rope Pull is so much more than just a competition. It’s what brings us as AGRs together as a whole. So I dare any other fraternity to try and stand in our way, as we climb to the top.

Homecoming Day & Quad City:
We had a great homecoming week getting Þrst in rope pull, second in lip sync, and performed very well in pyramid. Everybody was happy with the third rope pull championship in a row on Friday. Saturday was homecoming, and it was very eventful all over campus. Early in the morning was the ground breaking for the sororities new meeting houses. We then had our active/alumni chapter meeting and our mother's club meeting where our new member's were introduced to all the moms. In our chapter meeting we handed out Elam Scholarship to Michael Morris and Bob Duck Scholarship to Seth Tennant, and we also gave our new initiate award to Skyler Ramsey. After the meeting was over, we went to our quad city event. We won second place in quad city behind pike who won Þrst. The theme of our tent was that of gangsters since the homecoming theme was the roaring 20s. We had a good turn out to quad city once again with many alumni and their families coming back to eat and watch the football game. We won Þrst place overall during all of homecoming week. I would like to thank all the alumni and their families that came out and supported us during the week, and hope that we will have the same support next year.

Alumni/ Active Work Day:
This fall the Alpha Upsilon chapter started an active/alumni workday and we hope that this will be a part of every semester in the years to come. On November 16th, 2013 we invited all alumni to come out and take part in a day where we made any improvements that we could see necessary to the chapter house. All actives were required to attend and we hoped that this time would help us all to get better acquainted with some of our alumni along with helping everyone to keep pride in our beautiful home. It took a lot of planning and focus to narrow down a work list to the most important things that were needed and could be accomplished on that day. We started working at approximately 8:30 that morning and worked throughout the day until around 2 in the afternoon. In the mix of that time we all enjoyed lunch together which consisted of grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. At the end of the work day several things had been accomplished. Some of the bigger accomplishments being a total ‘’top to bottom’’ cleaning of the kitchen and new windows with blinds installed on door entrances of the house. This day was a great success and I believe that many actives including myself got acquainted with alumni that they may not have known otherwise. I want to thank all alumni that participated in the first active/alumni workday and I hope that even more alumni will be available to come and help in the future. Be on the lookout for a date of the next workday in the spring.
