I am pleased to learn that United Group (UGI) would be bringing out their information

brochure for the benefit of new entrants for the session 2014-2015. It is a wise thought

on the part of the management of UGI to provide all necessary informations needed by

the students at the time of their decision-making for their academic pursuits through a

well documented brochure. This brochure will help them decide the right branch for

their higher studies. I am pleased to write this massage which is to be included in this

brochure.

UGI has been a leading group of UPTU providing education in different disciplines. In

fact UGI is one of the premier ones in the state of U.P. The track record of UGI, in terms of

quality of education, placement and development of employability skills has been at

the desired level. The alumni of UGI have been doing well not just in India but also in

different parts of the world. The infrastructure of UGI for all the disciplines of the

Engineering, Technology, Pharmacy and Management is at par with the best ones in

the country. The emphasis on extra curricular activities with a lot of opportunity for the 0students to have 360 personality development is something that attracts the new

entrants towards UGI.

Besides the state-of-the-art of laboratories facilities and an innovation centre on the

concept of Tod, Fod and Jod, UGI has the most learned faculty in each of the disciplines.

OUR GUIDING FORCE-UTTAR PRADESH TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

Uttar Pradesh Technical University was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh. Under the University Act, 'Technical

Education' includes programmes of education, research and training in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Town

Planning, Pharmacy, Applied Arts & Crafts and such other programmes and areas that the central Government may in

consultation with All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) by notification in Gazette declare.

The University is affiliating in nature and its jurisdiction spans the entire state of U.P. in affiliating B.Tech., M.B.A., M.C.A.,

B.Arch., B. Pharma., B.H.M.C.T., M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes in 822 colleges/institutions imparting graduate, postgraduate

and doctoral level training in all government and private institutions located all over U.P. in engineering, technology,

architecture, pharmacy, hotel management and catering technology as well as M.B.A. and M.C.A. programmes.

U.P. being the largest state of India with an area of around two lacs forty thousand square kilometers and population of more

than 165 million people makes UPTU as one of the largest technical universities not only in India but perhaps in Asia. Because

of its gigantic size and number of colleges affiliated to it and geographic dispersion, it has been sub-divided into five zones

for the ease of management and facilitating inter-zonal comparison and possible internal competition to enhance quality of

teaching-learning processes.

UPTU envisions to facilitate and nurture the quality of technical education and research in its own premises as well as all

affiliating institutions. The total number of affiliated colleges was 49 in the year 2000, which has now gone up to 822 and the

University is still growing. The task of the UPTU at the moment includes conducting the State level Entrance Examination U.P.-

S.E.E. for admission to various programs affiliated to UPTU.

UPTU is currently located in I.E.T. Campus at Sitapur Road in the Capital of U.P. at Lucknow. Its NOIDA Centre and Regional

office is established to facilitate closer academic and industrial interaction around that zone where a prominent cluster of

private affiliated colleges exists.

he United Group, founded by late

TShri Shiv Ram Das Gulati in 1951

emerged from a transport business to

the giants in the fields of education, services,

transportation and journalism. The group

made a mammoth leap in the education

arena in the mid 80s by being the pioneers in

computer education.

Allahabad and Greater Noida, over 10000

Innovation Centers at UGI are newly established units aiming

towards nurturing the innovative ideas of scientifically and

technologically-driven young minds and encourages UGI

scholars for research project/proposal submissions. The prime

objective of these Innovation Centers is to explore and enhance

the creativity and innovation skills of UGI scholars and to pursue

research that not only advances science and technology but also

has a societal impact.

Students with innovative ideas can approach the innovation

centre for guidance and financial support. The Center is equipped

with state of the art facilities for research and development. Other

facilities required for projects like Internet, Printers, Software,

Circuit Components, Fabrication support etc are also provided at

the center. Application forms may be obtained from the

innovation centre. Interested students may submit their

applications along with the detailed proposal in the prescribed

Dubey, Ph.D., BHU, Varanasi, with more than 36 years experience of teaching in IT-BHU as well as foreign University and more than 42 years of research experience, visited Cambridge and other Universities in U.K. under INSA Royal Society program and now, at United, he is focussing on educational leadership that is required to meet the performance measures lying in consonance with the vision and mission of UGI.

Prof. B. N. JhaProf. B. N. Jha, holds wide teaching experience in the Department of Industrial Engineering, Bihar Government, Production Engineering Department, BIT, Mesra & Allahabad Campuses and also as Professor at Emeritus – Dwarahat, Almorah District, Uttarakhand. While working at United, he believes that the flow & dynamism of proper knowledge & proper education has to be in pace with the times, environment and inherent individual talents.

Prof. B. K. PandeyProf. Bharat Kumar Pandey, H.O.D., Mechanical Engineering Department, UIT, Allahabad, has done B.Tech. and M.Tech. from IIT Kanpur. Having specialized in JIT, KAN-BAN and KIA-ZEN implementations, he holds 32 years of Automobile industrial experience and 4 years of teaching experience in Engineering Institutes. He supports the implementation and improvements in our committed teaching supported by rigorous practical training in Labs and Workshops.

Prof. (Dr.) H. P. ShuklaProf. H. P. Shukla obtained his Bachelor's degree in Electronics & Telecommunication Technology in 1976, Master's degree in Electronics Engineering in 1978 from J. K. Institute of Applied Physics & Technology, University of Allahabad and Ph.D. degree in Electronics from RML Awadh Universty. As the Principal of UCER, he is committed to serve the entire group for its holistic and visionary growth and development.

Prof. (Dr.) K. K. Malviya A techno-manager, retired Colonel of Corps of Electrical & Mechanical Engineers, Indian Army, Prof. K. K. Malviya is excellent and holds a vast experience in the fields of Technology and Management. During his varied academic, industrial and administrative experience, he has well proved his Techno-managerial and techno-advisory skills; which now blended with his interests, achievements and contributions acts as a catalyst for the rapid growth of UGI.

The faculty at United use innovative teaching methods in synergy with research

knowledge and corporate experience to make the strategy and experience thought

provoking and global in its perspective. A variety of strategies and methods are used

which cater to multiple learning styles to help students retain information and

strengthen understanding and to ensure that all students have equal opportunities to

learn.

The education system and teaching methodology is uniquely designed to articulate

various facets of the identified Key Result Areas (KRAs), on the pattern of continuous

evaluation and monitoring system with credits allotted for each sessional examination

COMPUTING

he workshops have been equipped with hi-tech machine tools and related Tequipments including Carpentry shop, Foundry & Forge shop, Fitting shop,

Machine shop, Sheet metal shop, Smithy shop and Welding shop.

The advance machining center houses precision lathes, honing, milling, drilling,

shapers, slothers, surface grinders, etc. Foundry and forge are capable to provide

castings. Welding workshop has the facility of oxygen acetylene, welding, electric

arch welding, resistance welding, TIG welding and MIG welding. Various cutting

devices including gas cutting are available in Sheet Metal Workshop. The Fitting,

Pattern, Carpentry and Smithy are the feeders to the workshops.

Neighboring industries like AREVA, RECRON, ITI Ltd. effectively utilize the

calibration, testing and manufacturing facility of the workshops. Students use

workshops extensively for developing prototype working models.

United takes pride in its advanced and state-of-the-art laboratories which assist

the students to supplement theoretical knowledge with practical skills. All the

laboratories are equipped with sophisticated and advanced technology which

helps students to attain clarity of the concepts through practical. Like the

workshops, the laboratories too, offer extensive test and measurement services

and product development assistance to industry.

In addition, the first year students also attain extensive research and

experimentation facilities in the sophisticated Chemistry and Physics Labs.

he state-of-the art infrastructure includes a T‘Learning Resource Centre’ -the library at each

institution, which provides students with an

impressive array of data-bases in the safe and supervised

environment. The libraries boast of a mammoth collection

of more than 2,15,000 books, magazines and journals.

Book bank facility is also provided to each and every

student. The students and faculty also have the access to

the IEEE & IEE digital library through which they can access

more than 400 International Journals and Periodicals.

Moreover, the college library is a member of INDEST,

DELNET (Developing Library Network) through which the

students have access to and can issue books, articles,

periodicals, etc. from premier institutes of the country

including all IITs. Nearly all the available newspapers are

within the easy reach of the students.

Day’ to pay a tribute and homage to and

Gulati. World-acclaimed and renowned

personalities from different sectors are

invited to cherish the moments of

celebration. Well known celebrities like

Shalmali Kholgade (Film Fare Wining

ZEST

Zest, an Invigorate Initiative by United

To exhibit the technical aptitude of our budding

engineers, an informative exposition is

organized every year. It started with

UNITECHFEST; an annual festival extravaganza

organized at UNITED. In the subsequent years of

roaring success of such FESTS, ENIGMA takes

the cue which is not just a technical event but a

platform bringing together ingenious minds

that can showcase their exuberant talents. The

entire campus is transformed into a vibrant

carnival. It is being organized with an aim to

rejuvenate the mind of the students and giving

them the well deserved break. Students

demonstrate their creations in the form of

models, designs and experiments. Valuable

feedbacks are obtained from the academicians

who grace the occasion. This facilitates them to

delve into the concepts and theories even

further thus grasping the in-depth details about

the dynamics of their projects.

Clubs & Societies

United offers plenty of club and societies to

polish the specific skills and the interest of the

students. The student association at United

offers various such clubs like 'ELECTRUM' which

is the Electrical and Electronics society, the CS &

IT society, Mechanical society, HR club and the

Finance club. Non academic oriented clubs like

SPIC-MACAY and Fine Arts society is also on the

verge of introduction.

‘Edu-Shine-2014’ is an annual tradition of UGI aiming towards honoring

Academic Excellence. Every year UGI recognizes and felicitates great teachers,

researchers and scholars in higher education; acknowledging their

contribution to academic progress of the region. This honor at ‘Edu-Shine’

refers to the virtue, a keen sense of ethical conduct and integrity and is given

for a special merit or achievement, glory or recognition to all the nominated

academia, researchers, scientists and industrialists from IIIT, MNNIT,

Universities, Degree Colleges, National Academy of Sciences India (NASI),

Harish Chandra Research Institute, SHIATS (Previously Allahabad Agricultural

Institute) and other educational and counseling centers of the region. A big

United Group of Institutions has academic collaborations with

the International Universities/ Institutions, which has provided

an umbrella for internationality, innovation, integration,

information, technology and industrial partnership to all the

bright souls of the group.

Signing up of MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with

Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand, being

the first initiative in this endeavor has opened the doors for

Global exposure and Global future of Unitians. More than 200

students have already participated in ‘Summer Education

Workshop’ at AIT and entering into its 4th plan is ready to

send good number of identified, talented and technology-

driven future leaders from across the UGI in the year 2014. AIT

collaboration provides an exchange platform for the students,

faculty members with joint research projects, joint cultural

programs/projects and joint conferences.

As a next step in this direction, MoU with the Missourie

University, Columbia, USA, provides with a framework for a

partnership agreement ensuring close cooperation and

coordination of efforts concerning training, exchange of

experts and scholars, participation in joint conferences etc. At

University of Missourie, the students will be participating in an

exclusive 3 week summer program, which provides to pursue

student and faculty exchange activities/projects in order to

promote understanding and good will, strengthen cultural ties

and broaden student faculty achievements, faculty experience

and horizons.

SHIV JYOTI SCHOLARSHIP

To motivate talent, this scholarship ranging from Rs. 5,000 to

Rs.50,000 is awarded to all B.Tech aspirants with UPSEE General

Rank between 1 and 10,000 who join any of the UGI Institutes.
