(Dupont Current, Foggy Bottom Current) DEVELOPMENT Following months of selling its proposed development to the Tenleytown community, Georgetown Day School is now preparing to file a planned-unit development application for the mixed-use and campus expansion project that would remake the area around 4800 Wisconsin Ave. NW. (Northwest Current, Georgetown Current, Dupont Current) The Kennedy Center is ready to begin construction within the next month on an expansion that will add new pavilions, courtyards, a cafe and a pedestrian bridge to its grounds over the next few years. Council member Mary Cheh hopes to find funds for traffic-control officers at the corner of Wisconsin Avenue and M Street NW in response to persistently high collision rates. OPINION (all editions) Editorial: While we see a potential positive side to Sidwell Friends School's purchase of the Washington Home and Community Hospices property, the loss of the District's only inpatient hospice – with its key Medicare beds – merits close scrutiny by D.C. officials. Editorial: We're delighted by a National Park Service effort that aims to engage the city's children in the free parks available to them. Sherwood: Mayor Muriel Bowser is making clear her economic development priorities. After a rebuilding season last year, Georgetown Day’s volleyball team comes into this season ready to turn tough lessons into wins.
