PRE-KINDERGARTEN NEWSOur week has been so much fun learning about the letters t and i, the colour brown, semi circles and talking about our grandparents. We have baked Teddy Bear bread, played with brown gingerbread scented playdough, investigated insects, made animals and insects with semi circles and designed amazing paper bag houses. The children have also made some wonderful pictures that we will post to our grandparents on Friday. We had great fun at our teddy bears picnic singing teddy songs, going on a bear hunt, trampolining teddies, playing tennis and eat-ing teddy bear biscuits.

FROM THE CHAPLAIN

Reverend Tony Card

KANGA CRICKET

All Saints’ Kanga 9s played against St Pat’s Black at Police Paddock on Saturday morning. It was a very strong St Pat’s

team that managed to contain the All Saints’ scoring. Accurate bowling meant we lost quite a few wickets. Well done to Baxter Killiby and Banjo Goodlet who were able to protect their wickets and Lachie Munns, Noah Newman and Aston Hornery who only lost one wicket. Bowling to a well-drilled team was tricky. Well done to Charlie Gibbons, Will Helms and Connor Stahl who all took a wicket a piece. Player of the Week was awarded to Charlie Gibbons for maintaining his enthusiasm throughout the game. Well done, Charlie. Thank you to Sean Munns for coaching the day, the team really appreciate it. Mrs Jo Nicholls

10 YEARS CRICKET The under 10’s cricket team played Blayney at Blayney High School on Saturday. It was an exciting match with a bit of everything thrown in. A lot of wickets were taken and runs scored by both teams. James Edwards did a great job as wicket keeper and quickly adjusted to the different bowling styles of his teammates. James got a rare stumping with some quick thinking and accurate fielding. There was some great batting; with notable performers Noah Siede, Angus Parsons and Toby Gough. Well done to a team that is improving each week and maintaining their enthusiasm.Mrs Jo Nicholls

Toby Gough - Player of the Match

11 YEARS CRICKET The All Saints’ 11 years team continued their strong performance defeating St Pat’s Green on Saturday and finished on a high. This weekend, All Saints’ have their grand final game against St Pat’s Red at Learmonth Park 1. This game will run over two weekends. We wish this team the best of luck and thank their coaches for the season; Michael Siede, Charlie Morris (Gappie), Tom Geyer and Mrs Munro.

“Very truly, I tell you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains just a single grain; but if it dies, it bears much fruit”. (John 12:24, NRSV)Jesus is speaking to us about giving of ourselves for the kingdom of God. Using the analogy of the grain of wheat he tells us that we must give of ourselves if we are to benefit others. The grain of wheat on its own is of little value to anyone. But when it is planted and grows to maturity it

produces many grains - and so we make bread. This principle of giving up in order to gain more is something that we all do. We give up part of our income in tax so that our society has the services it needs. We put money into superannuation to provide for our retirement. We give up some of the things that we want to do now in order to send our children to this school so that they can have a better future. We are used to giving something up to make things better for ourselves. The challenge from Jesus is for us to give it up solely for the benefit of others. This is what he is talking about when he is saying that the wheat must die to bear fruit.

Over the years many in the Church have tried to set rules around giving. The ancient concept of tithing demands 10% of everything be given back to God. This is a very demanding ask and one that many people find difficult to accept, however we should bear one thing in mind when it comes to our giving - whatever we choose to give we can’t out-give God. As we know from John 3:16, God has given us his all - he has held nothing back. With every blessing,Rev. Tony Card.Thought for the week: “And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.” (John 12:21, NRSV)

KEEP THE DATE FREE

For the last couple of years, All Saints’ College Junior School has held activities to help raise funds for the Cancer Council’s Relay for Life. This year we are going to have a

Purple and Yellow Mufti Day and Morning Tea on Tuesday, 24th March. Raising money for Relay for Life is a great way for us to show our support for all those who are affected by cancer. The money we help raise will allow the Cancer Council to

support research, prevention and support services for those affected by this disease.

HOW YOU CAN BE INVOLVED:Students: On Tuesday, 24th March wear purple and/or yellow mufti clothes and bring in a gold coin donation to support the Cancer Council.Plus – bring some extra money to buy something delicious at Morning Tea.

Parents and Carers: If possible, please send in some food to sell at our Morning Tea. Please keep in mind we are a nut free school and there are plenty of children who love gluten free treats!
