IF YOU LEAVE THE VESSEL • Are essen6al AC & DC breakers ON? Bilge Pump switches on AUTO? • “LPG Control” switch in galley OFF? Stove & LP Gas DC breakers OFF? • Victron Charger/inverter set to CHARGER ONLY? • Windows & Portholes closed? Salon curtains closed? • If sunny, is front window sunshade installed (under wipers)? • Flybridge seat cushions, BBQ cover and helm canvas securely snapped down? • Dock / mooring lines / anchor rode OK? Fenders OK? Stern 6e line OK? • Dinghy secured? • Lock salon door if appropriate (helm igni6on keys stay in place).

ANCHORING WITH BRIDLE LINE 1. PREP: 1) Check weather & 6de swing; decide on scope for drop site (4:1 calm; 7:1 stormy); 2)

check area for depth at low 6de; 3) confirm windlass breaker is ON (at lower helm); 4) choose spot to drop anchor (plan for Stern Tie distance if it will be used); 5) get BRIDLE ready & a\ach lines to port & starboard bow cleats at Mantus Logo (middle sec6on of black canvas).

2. LOWER THE ANCHOR: Use windlass remote to lower anchor while moving SLOWLY in reverse. Call out chain length markers to Helm un6l desired scope is reached.

3. ATTACH BRIDLE HOOK – When desired scope is reached, a\ach bridle hook to the chain; let out more chain un6l FULL weight of anchor is on the bridle lines.

4. SET THE ANCHOR — With the FULL weight of the anchor chain on the bridle lines (not the windlass), test for dribing with both engines in reverse at 900 rpm for 15-20 secs. Reset the anchor if boat dribs. Verify bridle lines are carrying the FULL weight of the anchor rode.

5. STERN TIE - If needed, setup at Port transom steps. (See details in Owners Notes) 6. SECURE BOAT – Shut down engines, chart plo\ers, instruments, electronics and VHF radio;

cover Flybridge Helm and secure any loose cushions or gear.

MOORING TO BALL1. PREP: Get ready at starboard transom steps with boat hook and two 25’ WHITE braided

mooring lines (without “eyes”). 2. ATTACH THE 2 LINES TO MOORING BALL RING: Maneuver so the ball is close to starboard stern.

Loop each line twice through the ball ring. Use the two pairs of lines to slowly “walk/drag” the ball along the starboard side to the bow.

3. SECURE MOORING LINES TO BOW CLEATS: Maneuver & hold boat steady so the ball is centered between the two bows. Secure one pair of mooring lines to the two STARBOARD bow cleats. Secure the other pair of lines to the two PORT bow cleats. Adjust the lines to form a fairly 6ght “V” so the ball is securely centered between the bows with no slack in the lines.

4. SECURE BOAT: shut down engines, chart plo\ers, instruments, electronics and VHF radio; cover Flybridge Helm and secure any loose cushions or gear.

DEPARTING ANCHORAGE OR MOORING BALL Assuming you have planned your day, done your Quick Engine Check, prepped both helms and the dinghy and started the engines… this is our process for depar=ng.

ANCHORAGE 1. Retrieve Stern Tie line (if deployed)… (store in Deck Locker 1). 2. A\ach washdown hose. Turn ON WashDown breaker. Raise anchor chain enough to detach

Bridle hook and Bridle lines. SLOWLY maneuver boat forward while raising anchor. Hose off mud & marine debris from chain and anchor.

3. Insert bow roller lock pin and snubber line. Stow Bridle line in its bag. Disconnect & stow wash-down hose in Locker 3. Turn DC Washdown breaker OFF.

MOORING BALL 1. Maneuver boat to point into wind to reduce load on mooring lines. 2. Detach one end of each mooring line from its bow cleat and pull it from the other side through

the mooring ball ring. When both lines have been retrieved, slowly back away from mooring ball and proceed. Stow lines in Locker 3.

PROCEED… • HELM: Check for depth, nearby boats and obstacles in water… use thro\le/gearshib levers and

proceed… avoid gunning engines. • NSO – monitor course & depth on charts; watch for rocks & water hazards. • CRUISING: ECON = 1200-2600 RPM (5-8 knots); FAST = 2600-2800 RPM (9-11 knots);

MAX RPM = 3000… PLEASE DO NOT EXCEED.

USING THE TOUCHSCREEN • Tap screen to select an item or create a waypoint. • Drag or swipe finger across the screen to pan or scroll. Pinch two fingers together to Zoom

out. Spread two fingers apart to Zoom in. • To mark a MOB (Man Overboard) or SOS locaCon… select “Mark/SOS” in lower menubar. • To clean screen: use a clean, soH, synthe=c cloth with screen cleaning fluid stored in bin in

small cabinet behind chart table.

CREATING & MODIFYING ROUTES The two methods we use and recommend you use for crea=ng a route: 1. Create a route manually on a physical NOAA naviga=on chart. San Juan Sailing/Yach=ng

provides NOAA charts and char=ng tools (stored behind the lower helm seat). While we are comfortable using naviga=on charts, we prefer the 2nd method…

2. Create a route using a navigaCon app like “Navionics” on a mobile device such as an iPad or tablet. We have used Navionics on our iPad extensively for several years. It is an easy, effec=ve way to create, modify and follow routes (easier than on our Garmin chartploXer). ★ CAUTION FROM All Heart’s OWNERS: Based on our experiments and the advice of

San Juan Sailing/Yachting, we advise AGAINST using any of the 3 Garmin route creation features on the chartplotter (“GO TO” , “ROUTE TO” and “AUTO GUIDANCE”). The learning curve is fairly steep. Unless you have extensive experience using Garmin’s marine navigation tools, we advise you to use simpler ways to create and manage your routes.

PILOTING THE BOAT Besides manually steering the boat, we recommend using the Garmin Autopilot’s “Heading Hold” and “Step Steering” features to pilot the boat when appropriate. We advise NOT engaging the Autopilot system to automaCcally follow a route on the chartploTer. Any method used to pilot the boat should rely on the chartploXer’s BLUE COG vector line (Course over Ground). The COG line provides constant feedback regarding the boat's direc=on of movement as influenced by wind and currents. Here are the ways we pilot the boat: 1. MANUAL STEERING – We always use manual steering in narrow channels, shallow water,

anchoring. entering a harbor or any =me we are opera=ng close to other boats. 2. “HEADING HOLD” – This AutoPilot feature allows you to have the boat automa=cally

follow a compass heading. Simply point the boat in the direc=on you want to go and press Engage on the Autopilot screen. Autopilot will follow that heading un=l you disengage by pressing Standby (STDB). It is an excellent tool for longer open water crossings or to follow a route on a chart or an iPad. It is excep=onally reliable regardless of condi=ons.

3. “STEP STEERING“– When Autopilot is engaged, this feature allows you to adjust the boat’s Heading in 1º or 10º increments without disengaging the Autopilot. This is a very useful and reliable tool for managing the boat’s heading. To use it, simply… • Press <<10° <1° or 1°> 10°>> once (on the Autopilot gauge) to ini=ate a single 1° heading

change. Mul=ple short presses ini=ate a sequence of 1° heading changes. • A longer 2 second press will ini=ate a single 10° heading change. Press & hold ini=ates a

sequence of 10° heading changes.

★ WARNING FROM GARMIN: “You are responsible for the safe and prudent operation of your vessel. Autopilot is a tool that enhances your capability to operate your boat. It does not relieve you of the responsibility of safely operating your boat. Avoid navigational hazards and never leave the helm unattended. Always be prepared to promptly regain manual control of your boat. Use caution when operating the autopilot near hazards in the water, such as docks, pilings, and other boats.”

USING “AIS” (AUTOMATIC IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM) Our Garmin system includes AIS. The purpose of AIS is to help boaters avoid collisions. It improves on radar’s limited range and line-of-sight perspec6ve by providing a wider, “satellite” downward view to alert you to area boat traffic and enable you to iden6fy and track nearby vessels. Vessels within range that transmit AIS data are seen on the chartplo\er ini6ally as a GREEN “triangle”.

VIEWING DETAILS ABOUT AN AIS VESSEL A vessel’s AIS signal is shown as a colored “triangle” on the chartploXer. By selec=ng a “triangle” and then selec=ng Review (in the menubar), a screen of detailed informa=on is revealed such as the vessel’s: MMSI Iden=ty number, GPS loca=on, GPS speed, GPS heading, and =me to nearest approach. • To ac6vate an AIS Target vessel… select AIS

Vessel > Achvate Target. • To deac6vate a Target… select AIS Vessel >

Deachvate. • As an AIS target vessel heading on a dangerous collision

course gets closer to your boat, its AIS triangle will change from GREEN to FLASHING RED to warn you of its approach.

★ CAUTION: Remember, not all non-commercial vessels have AIS transmitters.

RADAR Our Garmin system includes radar chart overlay and MARPA (Mini-Automa6c-Radar-Ploxng-Aid) target tracking at both helms. It can be used to dis6nguish between fixed & moving objects.

• To ac6vate the Radar image, select MENU > Transmit Radar.

• To deac6vate the Radar image, select MENU > Radar To Standby
