Airspeed Sensor

An airspeed sensor with four user-defined ranges (from 250 FPM to 2000 FPM / 1.25 MPS to 10 MPS) is now available. It provides a 4-20 mA output proportional to the air velocity. The sensor may be located any distance from the EDGETM expansion box provided that the total loop resistance does not exceed 600 ohms. It can measure ambient temperature ranges from 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C). The probe should be located where conditions are representative of the overall environment being monitored, and connected to a conduit (or other means) with a ½” NPT connection.

Sensor is not orientation sensitive.

Sensor is intended for use with dry air.

Requires EDGETM software version 2.5 or higher to log, monitor, and alarm at user-defined levels.

No logic is related to ventilation compensation.

Do not power this sensor from an EDGETM card as it requires more current than card can provide.

For sensor set-up instructions, continue to the next page.

SENSOR SETUP To complete these steps the sensor must have power.

1. Remove the sensor cover; press “SELECT” button until “RANGE” indicator LED is illuminated.

2. Press “ENTER”

3. Turn the “ADJUST” knob until the desired range indication is achieved. The “RUN”, FILTER”, “A”,

“B”, and “C” indicator lights will change to indicate the range setting. 1000 FPM is

recommended; reference the table below for other ranges.

4. To save the range value, press and hold “ENTER”. The “RANGE” indicator will blink at a faster

rate for about 2.5 seconds then all of the LEDs will flash indicating the value was saved.

To restore to the factory default settings, start with the unit in the “RUN” mode. Press and hold the “ENTER” button. The “RUN” LED indicator will begin to blink. After about 2.5 seconds all LED indicators will flash indicating the factory settings have been restored. Range settings are not affected by this operation.

To complete these steps, you must have set-up privileges.

CONFIGURING EDGE SOFTWARE FOR AIRSPEED SENSOR:

1. Select the Equipment Congifuration Icon.

2. Select the room to which the equipment will be added.

3. Scroll down and select Generic Input.

4. Select the Add or Copy equipment button.

5. Give the sensor a Name and then select the Signal Type, Units, and Precision as shown below. “Min value” and “Max value” are determined by sensor setting. 1000 FPM is recommended. Set “Min value” to “0” and “Max value” to “1000”.

The Expansion Box, Slot, and Input are site-specific and determined by where the sensor wiring is landed.

6. Select the Home Screen Icon.

7. Scroll to the room you added the equipment to and select the generic input tile.

8. Select the sensor and check the “Show on tile”. Up to 3 inputs can be shown on a tile per room.

CONFIGURING EDGE SOFTWARE ALARMS FOR AIRSPEED SENSOR:

1. Select the Setup Icon.

2. Select the room to which the alarm will be added.

3. At the bottom of the page, select the Alarm button.

4. Select Generic Input.

5. Select the sensor you want to add the alarm to.

6. Select Use low and/or Use high alarm and enter the specific alarm threshold you desire.

7. Adjust the “Recognition time”.

8. Select “Main alarm relay” if you would like this alarm to trigger the alarm system.

9. If configured, the system can trigger an EDGE “Alarm relay” to perform and secondary function that responds to the alarm. An example of this might be closing a relay to start fans based on the low alarm threshold.
