ABOVE: The RAF Battle of Britain Memorial Flight’s iconic three-aircraft formation comprising its Avro Lancaster accompanied by one each of its Hawker Hurricanes and Supermarine Spitfi res has become a hugely popular sight and sound at major UK air shows and some other smaller events up and down the UK. Nearest the camera here is the Flight’s Hurricane IIc PZ865/EG-S wearing its recently-applied 34 Sqn South East Asia Command camoufl age scheme with Spitfi re XVIe TE311/4D-V, the most recent addition which only fl ew again in 2012, wearing 74 Squadron 4D-V paintwork, below it. In this view the Lancaster, in its current 617 Sqn KC-A Thumper III paint scheme, is the most distant aircraft of the formation.

The two-day military vehicle event is being held in the extensive parkland adjacent to Thoresby Hall, near Ollerton, North Nottinghamshire. The
